I got my baby an oil change today. Unfortunately they showed me my drivers side axel boot is leaking. I will need to get that replaced soon.

small mod but one i've been planning for awhile. I installed a toggle switch to run my aux pad on key power or straight from battery power.

In California, even though the base fines are too low IMO, they can impound your vehicle on the first offense.

Probably needs a new thread but I’ll try here first because the thread is very active.

Can anyone confirm for me that they have used Revemoto to swap out their 2nd gen stock ‘flat’ hood with a TRD ‘scoop’ hood…?

After many emails and info exchanged with Revemoto I am not feeling confident that (1) they have the correct hood for my 2009 SR5 and (2) that it’s going to get shipped/delivered from Texas to Massachusetts without getting damaged…

Local Toyota dealer was less than helpful in giving me original part numbers, he was insisting that I pull my truck in for a “maintenance evaluation” before he would help me out with the part numbers…. Eventually pointing me to Toyota parts direct to get the info Revemoto wanted.

Using my VIN (pic attached) and the sticker located on the drivers side door jamb (pic attached) I think I have been able to confirm the original hood’s part # (53301-04120) as well as the part # (53301-04150) which is the TRD hood w/ scoop.

But Revemoto won’t confirm what they have will fit correctly as they don’t offer it as a ‘conversion kit’ for 2gen’s (they do offer a 3rd gen ‘conversion kit’ though).

i just don’t want to make a $1500.- mistake and have to explain it to the wife…

This is what I’ve been able to get from Toyota parts direct:
Toyota Part #: (53301-04120) standard hood replaced by the TRD Hood w/ Scoop Opening # (53301-04150). Hood Scoop Insert (76181-35050-C1) Black is OEM Factory for $272.00.

I know, I know - long winded and talked about in a few other threads but it’s hard to weed out the BS….

Thanks to anyone that can confirm they’ve used Revemoto for this specific part upgrade!!

I have a regular cab and the previous owner had a dog. Replaced the carpet and the smell is gone, also gave the rest of the interior a good cleaning.

Removed it from daily driver duty by picking up a 2010 Rav4. Really wanted a 4runner, but didn't want the 4runner sized payment right now. And with this, I now have pair of Pyrite Mica Toyotas.

@RockfordTaco2006 dude you are the man!! Thank you very much. Very much appreciated everything you put into that reply. And I have to agree on the OEM versus ‘aftermarket’ and sourcing the paint job locally.

    good luck on your rebuild!!

Looks good that way. Curious what lights are in the grill and how did you mount them? I like that set up.

My 2008 hood and roof were in real bad shape after the clearcoat was completely gone. The remaining body paint was fine. I was searching for a scooped hood to replace mine. I had a hard time finding a good used one and started looking at aftermarket painted hoods. The problem was that the used ones were high priced and still required painting. The new scooped ones were on back order. I previously had a 16 Sport so I really like the scoop appearance. I ended up just having a local pro shop strip and paint my flat hood and roof. It cost me $980 and I have been very happy with it. If I would have bought a used, or a new, hood then I still needed to paint my roof. I would have just thrown away all that extra money for a non-functioning hood scoop. I just considered that that scoop would not add 1 penny to the value although it would look awesome. I had the same concerns as you regarding shipping damage. The problem is that you won't see the damage until you sign for the delivery of the packaged hood and unwrap it. I bought a painted fender around 12 years ago. When I finally unwrapped it there was damage on the fender. Luckily a friend fixed it free without requiring paint. The seller was no help because they said I should have inspected it at delivery. I was not home when it was delivered.
