Walking Stick is a fun little trail, nothing difficult, but extremely short. The "technical" portion is probably 1/2 mile at best.

I liked it. I went to Riley Moore falls yesterday. There use to be one little tricky spot where I'd use 4low but they have done some maitence on the trail and now any AWD with some ground clearance could probably do it. The falls had a lot less water flow than normal too.

may still try to at least look at walking stick. I’ve also never been to Riley so I may toss that into the list too. We don’t do enough when we’re up there anymore.

Another trail you could do is bad creek rd. It's only open during hunting season. If you've never been is a pretty drive north of Lake jocassee. You will see views of the lake and horse pasture river. There is also a couple camp spots with access to walk down to the lake. If you are going from Charleston to Highlands on the route that I would take you are within a mile of bad creek rd at one point so its not even out of your way really. Oh and I meant to ask is your kid feeling better? Our youngest has been snotty for a week basically.

Walking stick is definitely worth it if you're planning on checking out other nearby areas. However, if you're in Charleston that's quite a far drive for less than a 1/2 mile of "technical" trail. I use that term lightly because most stock vehicles will make it without an issue. There's a nice free campground just after walking stick called Ammons Branch campground if you're wanting to camp up by the trail.

Never been here but will check it out sometime. Is it deep enough to swim in some spots?

Yeah there is a pool around neck deep. It was cold yesterday and with the flow being so low that hole probably wasn't near as deep either.

Yea our youngest is fine now but our oldest started getting congestion and sore throat with a low fever that same night. School germs I’m assuming. If she doesn’t feel better or gets worse we may just scratch the highlands trip and head back to Chs. Thanks for asking though!

It was light jacket weather up here in Rock hill today. Got the kids out to landsford canal state park for some good river time. They finally got to play on the rocks I grew up playing on.
