Went to get groceries today and had my windows down and when i tried to roll my windows up the driver side worked but passenger side did not. Previous to today the motor had shown no signs of slowing down or anything like that. I did recently have a sound system installed so my thinking (hoping really) is that a cord popped loose and the window motor isn't dead. Any way that I can check this?

Also any good ideas on how to get my window up in the mean time without damaging the motor or the window? We got rain tonight so I have it taped up with a garbage bag but I feel like such a tool with my window like that. Thanks in advance for any help.

I don't know any way to get the window up without actually taking the panel off. I would take the panel down and check all the wires and connections. I'm sure someone will have an idea.

yeah I'm hoping to avoid taking the panel off if possible... neither the driver side switch or the passenger side switch work for the passenger window if that helps anyone with the troubleshooting.

Just pull the door panel...not exactly rocket surgery.

If something's loose, plug it back in.

More likely your regular shit the bed, in which case pray for warranty, because they're pricey little bastards.

Make sure your lock out button is not pressed on the drivers side. If pressed you can't work the passenger window from either side. I have almost come to the point of disassembling the door the first time this happened before I thought to check it.

Hope it is that and I was able to save you a bunch of trouble! If you go press it on the drivers side door now could have your window sealed for the rain. Suck if the tape came off.

One quick way to check it for window motor failure is to get in the truck turn the key on then while holding the switch for the window SLAM the door shut and sometimes it will jar the motor and make it work again. I use this method to diagnose window motor failures all the time.

It's true, I totally wont be laughing at the guy if it is. It happened to me and I was like 'fuuuuuuu' since I only had powertrain warranty at that point. So got my tools out opened the passenger door...then DING!...waiiit a second.

Went over to drivers side door, sure enough button pressed.

I didn't even think about it since I NEVER use this button. I imagine its for children or some such, but it didn't even enter my though process.

Anyways, OP..what is it! The button??

stupid button. I can't even imagine when I would have hit it and since I never use it I didn't even think to look at it. What gets me is I've never seen or been in another car that when you use the window lock feature, it doesn't let the driver controls still adjust the windows. I'm not sure why you'd want to prevent yourself from opening a window...

But I can't complain cuz I'm definitely the idiot here lol. Must say that I did do a nice job taping up the window. If anyone has to do this for real use duct tape. I did it once with painters tape cuz thats all I could find but once it started raining it just slid off.

There should be some sticky thread with the title "Think you window is broken" or something and then have the button reminder on the thread so people don't do what I did and freak out and immediately start a thread lol.

Thanks for the responses and for saving me the time and money I woulda spent bringing it to the dealer if yall hadn't reminded me of the button.

Simon hits that button all the time. I am glad it was an easy fix without having to tear anything apart or spend money. :)
