    Whoops :anonymous:

I've added outlet boxes here and there and thought to myself while cutting and dust flying "I really shouldn't be doing this..."

Lets not forget the lead soldered pipes...

That hole isn't helping matters and if the block feels sandy, that sucker might be toast. I wouldn't scrape or pick at it. It seems to be wet all the way through. If those wet blocks give out that whole wall could cave in. worse case.
Why is water getting to that side of the house to begin with?
On a hill? No gutter? Need to reroute a downspout?
Like you said, Where's that chord go?
1st get the water away from the outside.

Let’s hear what the meats have to say. I could definitely go for a weekly round table with brisket and ribs.

So, this post is a couple weeks old, but it got me investigating...

Been having occasional issues with the pods not fully dissolving, or just some plastic left behind. I started realizing this can't be good. Pulled the metal filter out of the bottom last weekend and it was indeed full of a film. Sprayed it down with some cleaner and took a garden hose to it. Bought some liquid Cascade detergent this weekend and tried it out. Seemed to do just as good. I don't put seriously dirty dishes in there anyways. Any food debris gets rinsed (I have a mesh strainer in the sink). So, no more pods for me!

Guess this is the same theory about laundry detergent pods. Been using Persil liquid exclusively for years. Bonus is it's septic safe for the new house here.

Finally got the LVP wrapped up on my stair case. Came out really nice and clean. Just some trim details to conceal the edge of the risers and then it's time to burn some metal for the railing. :welder:

Ha, nope, nope, and nope! That shit is GONE. The stairs weren't in the original scope, but after looking at all the issues I would have had to correct (like 2nd flight stringer being out of square to the lower wall, the tiny human trap between the lower stringer and wall, and general shitty condition overall) the boss gave the go ahead to rip them out and replace them. It was less than $200 in material (excluding the railing). Easy win, big improvement.

So @Sig45 in a round about way, got me motivated and off my ass to do a couple projects around the house before winter.

Side man door on the garage gets all the weather and needed a storm door. I had the Larson off the other door, so that was perfect. Due to the way I had the trim I had to make a shim all the way around. I had some pine S4S 5/4 that was perfect. Ripped 1/4 thick pieces and was able to hang the door no problem.

    20231009_104854.jpg

Started on re-caulking the aluminum flashing on various windows and doors. I opened a whole can of worms as the previous guy used 100% silicone. It did not hold up at all. Every last window will need to be redone. Not all are getting redone this year, just the really bad ones.

Also had the septic pumped this morning. In PA it's required every 3 years no exceptions. Well the company who inspected it didn't file the paperwork for the township. So, I got a nastygram the other week saying it needed done. It was only $220 for 1000 gallons and I honestly wanted to see how it was doing anyways. Everything looked good, despite being a little funky smelling

Windows are a hell of a thing. Flashing, installing, air sealing, insulating, trimming... Hard to find someone to do all of that so it's better to just do it yourself. That's what I did on mine. It's a can of worms but you have the satisfaction of knowing it's done right.

    Last time I'm fixing this.:fingerscrossed:

Speed Queen washer kept foaming up out of the drain pipe after drain cycle. Seems it's quite common with these machines from a google search. New Oatey hammer valve outlet box, new 6ft drain hose trimmed a little, duct taped it to the existing drain hose and shoved it all the way down to the p trap.

Working as it should after a week.

Drywall, sand and texture today. Primer and paint whenever it's dry.

Yea, it's gonna take a good long while to correct. I honestly hate the aluminum flashing and the white coating is worn off. However due to the way they installed the windows I can't remove it without a ton of work. As much as I hate to take away the maintenance free part of it I have to prime and paint all of it after re-sealing them. :annoyed:
