I'm confused. You're hitting the bumps, empty weight, on a paved road, with a headstrong/Icon AAL ?

I have the same 3 leaf pack. I have not hit the bumps when pulling a trailer off-road. I probably could if I tried, but it would likely end in a bent frame. I have hit speed-bumps at 35 mph (empty) and haven't struck the bumpstops.

If you're really hitting the stock bumpstop when lifted on AAL, that speaks to your shocks more than your springs. Though I'm wondering, if your shocks allow that much up-travel, do they not catapult your rear end on the rebound?

Not sure about the shocks. But yeah. I marked the bump stops to see if they hit and they definitely did. It’s not like it is all the time. Truth is it has only happened a few times but the times that it did, it was definitely an ohh sh** moment. I am going to look at everything, add some bump stops, and then reevaluate. Appreciate the input.

I think the Roadmaster improves the ride too. Definitely better

I was going to say it sounded like you needed a softer leaf pack not stronger until you said you are hitting the bump stops.

I have no idea how this is possible on paved roads empty. How fast are you going? I feel like there is more to this story.

If I knew, then I would not be on here ha. Yes it is odd and I am not definitive that I am. Colorado has bad roads and sometimes we have pretty big dips. I marked my bump stops, hit some pretty big dips, and it looked as if it was marked up.

My initial thought was that I was bottoming out and that is what I was feeling. That is why I asked about leaf springs and bump stops. I was told by someone at accutune that the deaver pack and their bump stops would be a cure all but I didn’t want to spend the money until I got further advice.

I am going to drive it with someone who knows more than me and report back

I get the whole bad roads thing but hitting bump stops is a whole different game. The shocks are good right? If they are could this just be a driving style problem?

Needs aftermarket bumpstops. That is what I was told by a reputable shop that specializes in Tacomas. That is what I am going to do.

I mean that would help when you hit them but doesn't answer the question of why you are hitting them.

Unless I am an idiot and wasn’t hitting them. I thought I was and I thought the markings showed that I had but we took it around some pretty bad areas and they didn’t think I had. Lesson learned I guess. I know when I hit one big dip last week, it got my teeth to hit. And I was not speeding. But that wasn’t typical everywhere.
