Not with him wanting to tow a bunch. At least my experience with a 1st gen v6, it would pull most things forward OK but really struggled at highway speed, had a hard time slowing down, and was not particularly stable when the load was over a couple thousand pounds.

Your money but I’d be tempted to get a new 2023 because it’s try and tested, 2024 is new

2023 or 2024. Pick the one with the good personality or the one with the crazy eyes. Both will provide benefits and risks.

LOL, no. I'm one of those "owned nothing but turbo 4's for a couple decades and would never willingly own one again" people. I'm sorry you can't respect other people's opinions. You must be a joy before Christmas, telling all the kids what they want is wrong.

I think you might be waiting on that 2024 for longer than you think, could throw off your ice fishing/camping/Canada trips if it doesn't show up well into 2024. A late model gen 3 will certainly hold up and has been tested.

Personally i'd wait for the new one but also wait another year for the glitches fixed. So guess go for the gen3 very lightly used, maybe a CPO?

Can you imagine the 8 speed automatic gear hunting in cruise control?

It really depends on what you want. I don't like the 2024 front end, because it looks like the current 4Runner and I don't like it's front end.

The one thing I did like about the 4th Gen is that it is going to feature TSS 3.0 - which has some nice drive assist features.

    https://pressroom.toyota.com/2024-toyota-tacoma-is-the-ultimate-adventure-machine/

Granted that's a feature I want more in my SUV, not so much my truck, but it would have been a nice add. However, I am more than happy with the 2023.

Isn't it your opinion that turbo 4's "suck"? Sorry you can't respect other people's opinions. You must be a joy before Hanukah, telling all the kids what they want is wrong.

You should be able to buy an off-road with the premium package. That should have the same interior as the limited.

Weird people are talking about completely unknown potential issues with the new gen when the 3.5 has known issues such as plastic coolant pipe leaks, timing cover chain leaks, anemic down low torque curve, etc. It seems obvious why they still use the 4.0 in their more expensive and more premium 4runners, land cruisers, GX400 etc....

Did the dealer give you any indications of a price for a 2024 Pro? All the features I've seen indicate the Pro will be very expensive, like $80k+. Is that what you're planning to spend?

A Tacoma will not be more than a Tundra (option for option).

LOL bro it's gonna be like $52k tops. the current goes for $48k, the new TRD pro isn't that advanced....

A F-150 raptor goes for ~$76k and is leaps and bounds beyond the base F150. The TRD pro is effectively just some shocks, badges, and flared fenders added onto a $28k truck. Thinking $80k+ for a $28k truck with options is just wild.

A couple of things I noticed on the TW 4th Gen forum is the 2024 Pro will not have a manual transmission option. Not sure if that is a deal breaker for you. Also the 2024 Pro is expected to go into production April 2024. So who knows if you can snag a 2024 Pro by your timeline.

Don't forget the wheel spacers instead of actual longer LCA's that would increase travel. LMAO, SO ADVANCED!!!

This comes down to how much you want to spend. If price isn't a factor I'd get the 24, more power, more style, more features. If you want a proven platform get the 23. If you can afford it get both.

I'm no expert so take this for what it is worth....no more allocations of 2023 Pro's does not mean you can't get one. It probably does mean you will have to travel (maybe even fly and drive or have it shipped) to buy one that is already allocated to a dealer. Search inventory on toyota.com and filter for Pro trim. Some and maybe most of these are reserved already. But if you call enough dealers you will find one that is for sale. I'd even guess at MSRP or close. I did this to find a 6MT which is even harder and was able to get one. (I did have one dealer ask for $10,000 over MSRP....I declined). One of the earlier posts cautioned that you might not get a 2024 early next year. If I understand how they rolled out the new Tundras they start with lower grades and a Pro will be later (especially if you want the higher spec engine/trans)....and many will have been reserved. I don't think you will find a 2024 Pro sitting on a dealers lot for sale in January....or May.
