It’s quiet round here so I’ll try to fill dead air from the road. I have 5G at camp tonight, pretty crazy how fast that gets. Anyways, after leaving camp Sunday morning I went to a Hipcamp I reserved just down the road (Hipcamp is like AirBnB for campsites). What’s the draw? It’s the only way to legally access a couple waterfalls on the Bad River that are south on those train tracks we stopped by on Saturday. First one is right next to the campsite.

    IMG_0321.jpg

Second series of drops is just downstream.

    IMG_6731.jpg

The next falls are further north and on someone else’s land, but the Hipcamp owner says he has permission for campers. Some of you may recall me whining about walking the railroad tracks and yeah guess what I got to walk those tracks a half mile lol. Raining the entire time too! But the falls are worth it. Super dangerous area especially when wet, lots of dead-fallen trees to scramble through just to get this picture. Hard to convey size but this is like 15-20 feet drop.

    IMG_0325.jpg

And if you hike downstream some more, slip and fall and break your elbow and ass bones like I did, you can then see this one which is 10-15 feet tall. I almost slid right into the river on that slick rock, super nasty area.

    IMG_0329.jpg

Venison burger at the Drop Tine Bar & Grill which we passed on the Saturday fun run, was delicious. Then it rained a bunch more which is par for the course but making me question my sanity for still being out in this. Scouted a couple other locations but no luck, had no signal so drove to Ashland and tried La Monarca per @pearing ’s input the other day. Not bad and the churros were super tasty!

    IMG_6760.jpg

Since it was Sunday, I wasn’t going to find a lens cover for my camera until tomorrow. Chances of finding one in Ashland were nil, so I did dumb things and drove all the way to Superior to camp at Pattison SP, then went to The Camera Exchange in Duluth the next morning. Nice old woman actually had a used one on the shelf of Knick knacks and gave it to me! Probably the only one in existence within 200 miles. PS - if anyone wants to buy out their business for like $150k let me know and I’ll share details, they want to retire and wouldn’t let me leave the store without giving me a sales pitch! Oh yeah, the woman said I should have tried at Omer Nelson in Ashland - called them and they said go to Duluth lol.

    IMG_6769.jpg

Drove a lot, scouted a lot of difficult waterfall spots for the future, and generally just farted around. Snuck a campsite at Totagatic park because they are all online reservation now and their site wouldn’t load, plus zero people were there. Breakfast in Hayward in the morning because I couldn’t decide where to go next on an empty stomach.

    IMG_6774.jpg

Went back to the Ridge View/Osceola Loop in Osceola that I’ve been to before because supposedly I missed a lot last time. Wouldn’t ya know, huge waterfalls right at the start of the trail I didn’t hike last time. Amazing place, suggest to anyone to visit here for the short hike if nothing else. This one photo doesn’t do it justice - keeps dropping for hundreds of yards, so much action all the way downstream.

    IMG_6780.jpg

No photo to share but also went back to Apple River Falls where I’ve been before to search for something I may have missed in the past. Nothing to be found, even flew the drone to confirm, but it’s a nice hidden falls that most people don’t know exists. Now I’m at camp doing my best @McSpazatron impression on these teeny filets. Came out a bit more medium but that’s fine, still tasty. (No, I didn’t cowboy cook them, but only because I have that long fork in my kit)

    IMG_6802.jpg

I think I’m mostly just on a food tour now but F it, vacation baby!

    IMG_6810.png

Couple days left, probably going to cut it short because Friday looks like heavy rain across the entire state and I’m over it. Dry weather today which I’m thankful for. Keep yer nuts toasty, TacomaWorld, and be excellent to each other.

Unfortunately, it seems like the bumper is probably fine. On the other hand, whatever structure holds, the headlights is bent, and the fender is trashed.

Damn the luck, at least it looks drivable till it's all shiny and new again. On the bright side, it could have been far worse.

Glad no one was injured but that really blows.

Whelp, I guess this is your sign...to get a full plate bumper with hoops. I could be biased...

I seriously had zero intention of even considering a full bumper last night or this morning when I looked at it. But, you guys are starting to make sense.

I'm going to see if I can get it looked at after work today. Once I get an idea of the actual extent of the damage, I might consider it.

    That sucks!

I agree it's time for a bumper. Or even better yet just do a SAS.
