I don't know why but I wasn't doing it during the day but I just got it to work and sure enough psi while running is at 27psi. When I opened the throttle there was a delay but the psi jumped to about 38 39. I shut the truck off maybe 5 minutes ago and it looks like pressure is gradually increasing. Its now at 29 psi.

    any thoughts!?

Actually when I opened the throttle pressure dropped about 2psi before climbing to almost 40

Attached pics of pressure at idle and at full throttle

That's because the fuel pump kicks to high speed over a certain RPM and load. Looks like a weak fuel pump.

do you think I should do any further diagnostics or should I just toss in a new OEM pump? And if so if I could pick your brain a little further my truck is the dual cab w the 5’ bed - is it possible to reach the pump via removing the bed instead of having to drop the tank!?

I mean everything points to a weak pump, there's some advanced tests you could do to check circuit integrity with an oscilloscope but it's pretty unlikely to have low voltage at the pump and have the pump still run.

Nope double cabs you have to drop the tank because the pump is under the cab, make sure to mark your fuel lines before you remove them so you don't connect them backwards.

I’ll report back once I get it in and run the test again.

Is it best to replace the entire unit with the housing? And should I absolutely be putting
in a Denso unit?’Im curious as to your thoughts the housing unit comes with the new seal

I mean it's easier to just replace the whole assembly.

It's up to you, most of the aftermarket pumps don't last very long unless you go with a good name brand like denso or delphi.

If Delphi (from what I’ve gathered over the years) is just as reliable as Denso, then I will end up going with the Delphi unit. Advanced Auto price matches Rock Auto theyre the only corporate parts store that will they’ll just add the cost of shipping to the matched price. To get the price match you have to call the 800 number to order from advanced over the phone and you can have it shipped or do store pickup which is what I usually do.
    Thanks again

    Hey guys

I read through the forums here and from I gather (especially from one user who’s had the experience from working as a full time mechanic) that the Delphi fuel pumps do not last as often as the Denso.

Where would you purchase a fuel pump from if you wanted to stay OEM? I usually use a local Toyota dealership and purchase online for the discount or I’ll use rock auto OR Advanced Auto if they carry the OEM part because Advanced Auto will indeed price match rock auto.

Rock auto seems to carry only the Denso pump itself minus the housing. I would really hate to drop my tank and replace the pump alone when I possibly need the filter and other parts of the housing unit.

Both strap bolts towards the driver side looks like the part of the frame that holds them in has snapped. Is it possible to replace with a new nut and washer? This is the one near the rear drivers side tire. Basically it’s just turning and turning now.

Got that one out. The other I’ll have to cut. This Delphi fuel pump I got came with a broken floater. I ordered another Delphi from advanced auto they gave it to me for 232$ after tax - Uber to the store and they don’t even have it.

    shoot me

LT Fuel trims were maxing at 39% prior to the fuel pump swap

I am trying to figure out how to get that broken bolt that is holding the first gas tank strap (closest to the engine bay) as I cannot get the pin back in without being able to loosen that bolt first. It’s almost impossible to get something up and over into that small spaced area of the frame where the tac 4 pointed welded threaded piece of metal is spinning while the bolt is spinning. I am not sure how to even cut it while the tanks right there or even the fuel lines (even if they’re disconnected).

I may need to have this towed but with a missing strap not sure how.

but checkout the new trims - also, I shared a pic of the new bolt and nylock nut that was used to replace the other strap bolt and welded threaded part of the frame (closest to the rear of the truck).

Any suggestions I searched the forums I cwnt find much this must happen all the time

    Thanks guys

    Mark
