That seems to be a National epidemic it’s probably not wise to own a boat if you have firearms

That is interesting. Did he travel out of the country, was he in the military? Can you take a picture of the proof marks, or do you know what country it was (re)imported from?

No other markings that shouldn’t be there. I will have to ask about military service. I don’t know how the gun came into his collection. I plan to ask eventually. My wife’s family has been the source of several really nice pieces that I’ll never sell.

500 rounds of 9mm for $96. Feel like that is not a terrible price.

2A warehouse. It's their not pretty reloads, but they are supposed to work just the same. I guess we will see.

I looked that up. Its a Simpson Limited stamp from Galeburg, Illinois, sort of between Moline and Peoria. I wonder where it was imported from? Obviously a S&W was made here in the US, so it should have proof marks from whatever country it was imported to, and Simpson would have to mark it when it returned to the US. I like how their mark is very unobtrusive and inconspicuous, as explained in a video on their website.

Most of the stuff in my collection is 99% or so, but I also love guns with some history. There aren’t any other visible marks, but the next time I have the grips off, I’ll snap some pictures.

Here’s an old Iver Sealed 8 with mystery numbers engraved on the barrel, frame and cylinder. The unexplained numbers are the main reason I bought it. Likely police evidence numbers, but who knows? IMG_9936.jpg

Is there a SN stamped elsewhere? The numbers on the frame and cylinder match, and I assume the etched number on the barrel matches them, so it could be as simple as keeping the major removable parts of the gun together if it had been disassembled at some point. Do those numbers match the SN, or could they be the SN? Iver Johnson wasn't the most elegantly made, they look like they were assembled from pipe and bar stock. They worked, though.

Just got back from my lgs and picked up this Vortex Crossfire (2MOA Dot) for the HK 416 22LR. $159. They mounted it and laser bore sighted it. I mostly run Trijicon, but didn't want to spend that kind of $$ on a plinker. Seems well built with clear glass and sharp dot.
