Nothing major or fancy. Just stuff to make it work better for me. Running boards, seat covers, BakFlip
Good morning to all of you. We had a couple of days of rain over here in the upper left hand corner of the Emerald Triangle but now the sky is clear. That means trying to finish all the little projects that should be done before winter decides to get serious.
I retired again since I was last active on here. Well, almost retired. I sold off most of the trucks and just kept a couple of water tenders for fire season. Got rid of most of the dozers too. Kept a couple of the best ones to use on the ranch. My neighbors and people who live around here bought all the stuff I wanted to get rid of so that worked pretty well.
Anyway, maybe now I'll have time for projects I want to do. I have an empty freezer and the smoke-house is ready...might be time to find a couple of deer.

Cataracts. It is good to be alive today. I had both eyes done, one distance lens and one reading lens. About a week after each, I saw better than I ever had in my life. My father had cataract surgery back when; his vision improved some with coke bottle glasses but nothing like mine. He was a WWII pilot with eyes like Ted Williams, cataracts came and his driving deteriorated, he could never drive at night again, no more handball, no golf. In many ways, we have it pretty good.

    Good Evening guys, busy morning,

started at 2am, adoration for a group of parisheners that were stranded in Israel. Got out yesterday just before they closed the borders. Last ones through. Funeral for a priest. Washed the truck and took a trailer full of rotted logs from the neighbors to the dump.

Afternoon folks. Hard on the back day. Someone needed the creeper I use for wiring a flying plane, so I found one with no working adjustment; got some 2x4, the table saw, and made it work. Sort of. Didn't creep very well. I think the front of the notches drag.

I have a lot of video that I use for progress. I made some. If I'm lucky, it looks kind of like this.

Good morning fellow Porchatonians!! 37F here this morning and only going into the mid-50s. Is it summer, yet?

Bit down on a sandwich yesterday and felt a molar crack. Lost 1/4 of the tooth. Off to the dentist this morning to have it rebuilt. Ugh.

    Quick story.
My son has been trying to get a moose permit for 20 years.
    This year he got it.
Excited his hunting party decided to go all out and get a guide and good rooming etc.
    Lots of money.
Fast forward to two weeks ago.
Practicing at the driving range, had a pop in his arm.
He ripped the tendon off his right bicep.
    He was devastated.
    Had to have an operation.
So a week before he was suppose to go on his dream hunt he went under the knife.
Now, he can’t do anything for 3 months.
    So.
His hunting party said “We got this”
Last Friday 3 days after the operation the Dr replaced the hard 10lb cast with a exo skeleton
    Motion limiter.
Dr was awesome helping him get ready.
    They left Sunday morning.
Jay could not use the 30-06 as it was too heavy so he brought the bolt action 308.
Also he had to shoot left handed.
    Never done that before..
    Monday morning, the stars aligned.

    IMG_2242.jpg

865 pounds dressed which for sure is like a 1,100 on the hoof.
    17 points
49” spread. About 6” short of a state record.

So happy his dream came true.
Much respect for the guys that helped his get through this…
He has old school value friends.
Saying I’m proud is a understatement..

Heading to Clarkston today and spend the night at my SIL's home. Tomorrow it will be off to Caseville and to the cottage. Going to get it ready for winter. Supposed to rain all weekend so I am happy with my designated job of Chef. ;)

We like venison jerky up here on the porch. Best of luck hunting.

Well done! Necessity is truly the mother of invention.

Good morning. We should be on our way in an hour. Gassed up the Avalon yesterday afternoon and I am finished packing. The trip to MI is usually somewhere between 9 and 10 hours. The hardest part of the drive, and it really is not that hard, is the PA turnpike up to Pittsburg and going through or around Detroit, depending on when we get to the city. Sometimes taking I275 around the city is quicker.

Awesome story and outcome. About 10 years ago I did the same thing on my left arm it's called a ruptured bicep. Yup surgery fixed it and it's good as new now. I wore the exoskeleton on my arm so I could go back to work.

Mark, twice last year I had something like that happen. Bit down and felt something change as a crown pulled off. First time I got lucky and realized what happened, spit it out , and was able to have it re-glued. Second time several weeks later the same crown popped off but this time I didn't realize and swallowed it. I did NOT attempt to find it. New crown.....

    Good morning all!

If the meat isn't flexible when you make the sandwich, time for something else!
(I lost my most recent to popcorn!)

Quite the story. Everyone likes a happy ending too!

:pccoffee: Good Morning Porch Pals & Sue! Out to mow in a while, and it will barely be 70* when I start. Hope I can handle it.

    Good morning everyone!

@Tacoma Mike, that's a good deal your kid got, along with his friends. One forgets how big those animals are until you are next to one. I had a friend get one 30yrs ago. Another person I know said they were out hiking and came across one in the woods unexpectedly, he said it took off away from him but he said he just froze not sure what to do. He was scared. Congratulations to your son. I hope he heals quickly.
