All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
I can find you one. Just let me know when you wanna pull the trigger.

This T7 isn’t the best deal per day, but has lots of extras that cost $$$

Those are cool, apparently the new ones have a bunch more get up and go then the previous models.
I was watching a video on this bike yesterday.

Brappp…heading out to Brushy Mountain Motorsports Park. Figured I would use the damp day to get in some hard work.

This won’t be clean for very long…:bananadead:

This and the new Beta 500rrs are my favorite bikes to ride. Pretty much my go to on the regular. If I am putting on some miles, I will jump to the 890r.

I still have my sites on a 1290r in either SD or ADV flavor, most likely the latter knowing me.
I am going to look for an older gen SD when they wheelbase was longer. I sat on the new ones, and I feel as though at my height it’s warranted.

Enjoy the day. If you get out, be careful on the slick roads.

Trying to burn thru this tire..got some sweet new ones that are sick!

That was my favorite color scheme on the KTMs. I had a 2015 that looked exactly like yours.

Looks like a really good group. I will be heading up your way at some point. I ride all year round so maybe we can find some slush!

Anyone ever cut down a titanium Two Brothers can? I friend has one that he wants to cut down a few inches. I was wondering about getting a metal blade for my miter saw. I thought about that since I can hold the can down and the cut will be at a perfect 90 degrees. Trying to do that with a handheld angle grinder seems a lot more difficult. My thought was that the miter saw would cut through the titanium sleeve, packing material and steel perforated tube all at once.

Any thoughts? Have you done this before? What did you use?

The 500 has been by far my favorite DS bike and I've had about 30 MCs over the years, defiantly a keeper. I prefer big bore thumpers for DS riding and open desert, 2Ts for trails and the more difficult terrain. Back when it was possible I had the dealer remap it with the euro map, the new 500s need a new ecu to get a USA exc's to run the way KTM intended them too tanks to the epa, this was no different but the remap basically made it euro spec fueling wise, doesn't flame out, have a twitchy throttle and gets around 60mpg on a DS ride plus it rips, I prefer a 300tpi for the more technical trail rides, the 500 is used for exploring, Dual sport and longer distance dirt trips. We have huge swaths of BLM and forest service land to ride so the 500 is a great choice around here.

Someone recently offered what I paid for it new (I got a smoking deal), I considered selling it and picking up a '22 but having to buy an ECU plus the rest of the mods like a cush wheel and suspension would have added up to a bike that's very similar (but lighter) and allot more expensive. I'm not a fan of some of the changes on the newer models in the name of weight reduction, namely the lack of a proper subframe since 2017. I got this one in the crate 9 years ago and aside from assembly at the factory I'm the only person who's ever turned a wrench on it aside from some suspension work, that's a nice feeling.

The bike has been a jewel, zero issues, zero drama and it sees some very remote places. It's been like a Toyota, just your typical maint.

I sold this 525xcw when I got the 500 and have regretted letting it go ever since, it was a low hr pristine version of the last and best year of the RFS, it was also dialed in very well. If you have a nice bike think twice about letting it go to get the latest model.

Wrap the can in masking tape first. Personally I'd have no problem doing it with a hacksaw but power tools are usually nicer. With the hacksaw I can go slow, stay close to the line and file the alum afterwards to get a nice edge. One thing about metal cutting blades is RPM, compare the recommended RPM from the blade with the saw's rated RPM. I considered a metal cutting blade for my miter and the RPM difference in the two stopped me from going that route. I suspect the RPM is less critical for cutting alum then steel which was what I planned on using it for.

Right? seems like it'd be an absolute hoot

well that's confidence inspiring i think lol. i'm lifted about 3" on 33''s, but i also have the same bumper as @fatfurious2 with the tow hitch behind the plate, not underneath

guess we'll find out lol....maybe I should go crash a local Uhaul and just see if they'll let me hook one up to test real quick.

33s might be alright. I don't have my 35s anymore, and the truck is so small. Kinda sad :pout:

    here's hoping lol.

Did you regear when you went to 35s? I've been considering it, but don't really want to regear and don't want my truck to be any more of a pig. 33's still manage the proportions pretty well for me.

I went to 35s back in 2017. I had regeared before that.
