I think I saw something like this on Bring a Trailer awhile back. It's like a 2-door version of the 80 series. This picture looks a little weird, but the vehicle itself looked super badass. Picture a Wrangler with a Toyota diesel in it.

Now that I look at it closer, it looks like a more modern version of the Australian Bundy, which was definitley badass in the video I saw somewhere . The angle on this picture makes it look like a Montero 4door chopped into a 2 door.

Man. ...your (ego) is writing checks your body can't cash... has gone into overdrive! 30k for a low mile 98 that I'm just gonna lift and put on 40's is NUTS! :stirthepot:

Edit: and the air probably doesn't work so it'll need an LS swap, and, and, fck'in, and... At least it has straight axles!

My latest thinking for the truck... Since it seems to be a damage magnet out back, make one that can take a lick'in...

I recall you saying your wife doesn't like the spare tire above. I don't see one in this photo, so my gut says this mod is wife approved? Do it and start preparing your future apology for mounting the spare up high later.

The tire is under there. I am raising the bed level if I do this so should have a way to hide the spare under... Hoping anyway. Might put it up over the cab... as long as it still fits in the garage.

Even better, double plus wife approved. Do it. Basically regardless of arguments I say do it. Positive happy thoughts and encouragement in this thread.

I concur with your line of reasoning, which is based on a solid, empirical data-set of evidence. So basically, get it because science.

    Also, that’s hot.

edit: link please… there’s no reason this wouldn’t work on a chopped 4runner.

Here is the link to the company that makes that one:

What's curious is the link you shared starts with "SA" in the URL meaning South America. Then when going to the RSI site for North America the URL changes to "NA" but does not include that same bed system. I doubt this would be a South America only product but...

    https://www.sa.rsismartcap.com/bed-replacement-system

Edit: Weird it's definitely not on the NA site but it is part of the NA catalog, I think their site is just weird:
    https://rsi-website-prod.frb.io/uploads/SmartCap-NA-AppGuide-Retail-Update-OCT-2023-Spreads.pdf

Edit 2: Just saw the prices, yowza!

I'm curious if the REDARC guys who ran the Rubicon Trail with 4WD/247 were running this, looks very very close (though most of them are quite similar). All of them were smashing off that lower crossbar on drops and looks pretty bomber.

Just an image for inspiration. Can't afford that monkey business. Thinking stake pockets and sides of my choice... not hinged. A rear rack bar that can be on or off. Headache rack for the shovel and HiLift. Tire under? Hoping. Some storage as well so I don't lose the kitchen. Wondering about a slide out to extend back for the sleeping platform... Oh the possibilities! And... damn that looks good. I will keep mine as high as possible in the back. Still need to be able to tow, so keep the receiver in or near where it is now but bring everything else up so the breakover gets better. fun project. Need to get the bed off so I can see what I have for mounting locations and start some drawings... Think that thing said close to 8k, but I am betting I won't have much over $500 in steel. Have to see.
