What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

what was the trimming process like?

 

Fluid film time. This gun worked great. Made quick work.

 

Just cleaning up a bit after a trip in the truck.

 

Put fiberglass all over the broken neck of my washer fluid reservoir. Don't have any before pics but it was swiss cheese. The glass looks like crap as it's my first time but it beats buying a new res.

 

We are officially under boost as of today. 10.7lbs worth of springs vs my original 1.5lb spring.
Test drive says it will not blow up with afr at 11.5 on WOT. Stay tuned for the dyno on Thursday... pun intended.

 

Boy do I miss that tent. I could sleep comfortably down to single digit weather. snow/rain/sleet Dry and cozy in my bag.

 

What are you using now?

 

I built the DIY Wedge that ripchord so kindly wrote up. It still has a lot of debugging to be done. falls way short in the way of insulation. still have a problem with staying water tight when closed too.

 

Ah gotcha, we were talking about those at camp and why no one offered one that fit below the cab line over the bed (~6.5'). I love the idea of one someday in the future. I'm waiting until the market saturates with em like it did with the other tents. Being able to just raise up the wedge and be set up is awesome. But I love folding my sleeping bag in my tent too... Maybe some day... Does the cold creep through the roof and floor panels?

 

I say I built it but I had a lot of help from a buddy. we did the work.

I like mine with the 2(ish) foot of cab over hang. It makes for a fullsize mattress inside of the tent with an access portal to step through up into the tent. So the bed and tent portion are kind of one cabin. I can slap my dog when she starts barking at elk at 5am without getting out of bed lol.

I hear that, on the saturated market deal. I couldn't justify 17k for a GFC or any other deal. so building one for 4k was the move. (cost of big nice rtt i'd say its fairly square takeaway)
setting up camp in literally 45seconds is pretty cush ngl.
On the sleeping bag note. I have 2 bags zipped as a queen bag together, two pillows and the mattress all up there. they never leave. They just exist like a made bed up there.

It creeps through the floor and foot section of the tent. the part that over hangs and doesnt have cab underit for insulation.

 

What's everyone using for turn signals when you install a tube bumper?

 

Personally I rewired the corner lights to be the turn signals. Both wires that run the turn signals and the corner lights run together through the inner fender so it is pretty straightforward. So the corners are the signals and you'll be left with the powered wire that used to be the corner, I use it to power some fog lights.

 

What springs? Moog stopped making them as far as I know, I'm having a hard time finding oem replacement coils

 

I did the same with mine with the turn signals and DRL's

 

well today was oil/filter change, fuel filter change, air filter change & then put the carrier bearing in the driveshaft.
the one that was in there was for sure no good it wobbled around on there like a horseshoe when you get a ringer.
