Rats in the Attic...

So I wake up every morning to rats scurrying around and making sexy time in the attic. I dont wanna dish out $$$ for an exterminator so lets brainstorm some ideas

And try to find their point if entry and block it off .

Jen actually has a snake but she wont let me unleash him

 

The best traps I think are the sticky plates put some food on it place them near the wall and any place you think they might be walking leave it there for a week and check on it

Oh God do not poison them because they will die up there and you think you have problems now.. They smell worse than a decomp human and you will have to go up there to fetch them. Any other place and Id say VX gas the little bastards. Find where they are getting in from and block it first, lay those hippie humane traps to catch the ones up there and take 'em out and toss them in a lake.

 

We had rats a while ago also. I just went to home depot and got some poison and that was it.

 

since im renting this place and the rats were obviously here before we moved in, should we get the landlord to pay for the exterminator?

 

I used to get flying squirells in the attic. I got a humane trap and let them go, peanut butter got em every time. I had to put a new, heavy duty screen on the attic vent, they chewed right through the old one. I wouldn't poison them up in the attic, could get ripe up there pretty quick.

 

Seal off the entry points, then use a regular rat trap with peanut butter as bait, put next to the wall, or rafters as that is there path. Try to put it in a place where you can check it everyday just by looking in the attic hatch with a flashlight. May take awhile, quite possibly more then one rat.

 

You can buy poison that also dries out their bodies , so less stink .

Rat traps will only get you one at a time , they will carry the poison back to the rest of their little buddies to share .
