3rz radiator recommendations

97 3rz. Want factory radiator new. What's yall using?

 

Denso, repeated tons of times

I did that a couple times. In fact, it had 4 in first 10 years. Then went with Napa 15 years ago. Was a little deeper than stock but fit well and best of all, has not cracked yet.

 

Interesting; many here will echo the Denso suggestion and have ran with it for years without issue.

I ran a Denso in my 4Runner and my Tacoma myself.

Only went Leiland on the Land Cruiser but that's to eliminate the plastic nipple for the throttle bypass which is prone to breaking; all aluminum.

 

I tossed in a Napa radiator 5 years ago and it's still going wonderfully. Pretty much any of the plastic tank aluminum radiators are going to be about the same. The original manufacturer of the first generation Tacoma radiator no longer makes radiator so pick whatever you can get locally that doesn't break the bank. Best to avoid shipping radiators if you can.

 

See that's a big concern is it getting broken, this one has lasted since 97. I'd like another one of those bc I don't want to start chasing overheating or not getting hot enough. I've seen koyo makes one

 

I did an OSC about 20000 miles ago. All good so far.

 

as long as it isn't damaged when you open the box it should be good. I had a TYC in my little 4cyl supercharged Tacoma and this Napa one in my current turbocharged V6 Tacoma. Never overheated, even pulling long grades. I'd avoid the all aluminum radiators that are available off the shelf for tacomas because they tend to spring leaks due to being rigid mounted. Makes the aluminum crack.

 

Agree with the above about avoiding shipping and inspect for damage. I would order from a local vendor and have them do a receiving inspection before taking delivery of it. The local auto parts store received three damaged ones before they received one undamaged when I replaced mine. It would have been a headache if I had to return one via UPS.
