Tacoma Vs. Rivian

I can assure you that in all aspects other than looks my Rivian was far superior to all of my Tacomas.

 

Push button 6" lift is pretty sweet

 

I would love to be pulled out of sand / silt by a riv or tsla. The more the merrier.

 

Toyota has made far more money from the Tacoma than Rivian ever will.

 

Same thing with Kodak but where are they now…

 

Maybe Rivian will survive but I don't see them out living Toyota. Not with cheap EVs produced outside the US.

 

Cheap EVs built out of the US cut into Toyota sales, not Rivian sales.

 

People aren't holding on to their Rivian but for a few months and then selling them. There isn't much demand for an electric truck, and if that's all they build. Look at the almighty Tesla, constantly cutting prices to generate demand.

 

Any facts to back up those statements? I’m guessing you have none per usual.

2 million preorders on Tesla Cybertruck knock down your lack of demand claim. The almighty Tesla is wiping out the competition with price reductions on a solid product with a solid charging network.

 

Look at the milage on the ones for sale.

I have seen less Rivians on the road since the new Colorado and Canyon went on sale.

 

2 million people are not buying Cybertrucks.

 

2 million preorders denote that there is a demand for the product that doesn't even have official specs/prices. Whether or not all of those are converted into actual orders is still to be determined. Demand is demand.

 

If you purchase something with the intent of selling it, is the first thing you are going to do is load it up with miles? Okay, that was a dumb question. Of course YOU are...

 

The Great Recession will destroy the US EV start ups. Tesla & Rivian bankrupt and doors shuttered by 2030.

Here’s some facts that represent how massive the market for pickup trucks is in the United States.



EV sales increased to 7.9% market share in the US for Q3 2023, up from 6.1% a year ago. Rivian has a higher market share than every established brand other than Tesla, Ford, Chevy and Hyundai. Sounds like there is a pretty reasonable demand for electric pickup trucks.

 

US EV market is a drop in the bucket, once foreign EV are allowed to be sold in the US. Tesla and Rivian will not be able to compete.
