No, I'm not selling my Taco, I really like the girl. Yesterday I brought my wife's Ford Five Hundred in for an oil change and a few small things, I hadn't been been to Ford in a few years and forgot how nice it was. It was "How are you today Mr. Nagel", several times: "Anything I can help you with sir?, as I wandered through the service department and sales area....rear drivers side tail light was out and they replaced it for $5.20 and a smile...didn't make a point to tell me it'd be a $60 charge if they checked it out and found nothing wrong. And when they were done the tech came to the waiting area, sat down and throughly explained the charges and asked if I thought they were fair.

WHY CAN'T MY TOYOTA DEALER BE LIKE THIS???? I go in there and it's confrontational from the minute the service tech opens his mouth. I feel like they think I'm only there to screw them, and when push comes to shove I'm usually the one getting hosed.

Ford does have their act together.

yeah unfortunately the dealership experience is not brand specific. I have been to both good and bad toyota dealerships, and managed to settle on one not too far from my house thats not terrible, )however at my last service they didnt even bother asking me to cut my gas pedal this time, they just did it and didnt say anything.... but it actually fits my goofy foot better now so im not complaining)
at least you have a no-headache option when it comes to service on your wife's ford though which is good

I kinda hear you on that. I haven't dealt with service, but I am trying to buy from them and everyone locally I work with just does not make me feel like they really care.

Precision Toyota in Tucson has good people. I've heard lots of negative things about Desert Toyota here.

This is why I'll be looking at Ford hard when it comes time to replace the DD. I REALLY like the new Fiesta.

IMHO I think ford has the best vehicals out at the moment. Their sedans got better longevity reviews than Toyota. I'd buy a ford car/suv before any Toyota out right now except maybe the 4runner :spy: only thing that compels me to buy a toyota truck is that they are made right here in Texas

Overall my dealership isn't half bad. I've had great and horrible experiences with various Ford dealerships in the past. Just depends on the dealer, not the brand.

Yeah, I always had great service experience with Ford when I had my 2006 F140 4x4. Toyota dealers always act like they could be doing something better with their time. While their product is superior, their attitudes and service are mediocre at best.

A little of this and a little of that.
George ( Mr. Nagel), it sounds like you have a really good Ford dealership to deal with. Not all the Toyota dealerships are dilweeds, but I'm sure some are.

It is nice receiving good customer service. Unfortunately it's not common enough.

Ever been to a chevy dealer? They'll basically S your D because they know they're on borrowed time.

Maybe just maybe some people are Assholes when they visit the Toyota dealers, my dealer is nice not a ass kisser, fixes the truck and service dept follows up on it a few days later. If you got a bitch with them they want to know.

not a chance for me. i'll take a toyota any day until ford proves themself, which they haven't yet. the problem with longevity is you're comparing toyotas build 8-10 years ago versus ford's built 8-10 (or whatever) years ago, and toyota wins hands down for reliability. cars built today??? talk to me in 8-10 years - and therein lies the primary problem with letting your quality go to crap - it takes you years and years to prove you've improved.

A year ago when I had my 09 tundra the rear dome light never worked since I bought it. I made an appoitment with the dealership and they told me it does not come on with the doors.

So I pulled the the console down and the connector was barely touching pluged it in and worked like it should.

It really depends on the dealership for service quality.
