I can probably get it to trigger that. Sounds like my .380 when I get my truck to do it.

Carven is the loudest most obnoxious system imo. TRD catback and Borla S type are the quietest ones.

There seem to run in groups around here. It’ll either be nice and quiet, or the entire gaggle (of guys whose mothers didn’t give them enough attention as child) that ascend on a certain area to cruise.
It's the same thing the malcontents do with the ATV and dirt bikes, it's a safety in numbers mob mentality. They'll terrorize the streets, one of them will get locked up and towed, the rest of the mob throws in to get her out of jail and her scooter out of the impound.

    Must be a city problem.
Loudest thing I've heard in quite some time was what sounded like my neighbor Joe's combine.
Joe lives about 3 miles away and is the only person that ever comes down my road, well except for Bob the propane delivery guy but I only see him about twice a year...this empty road is a situation that I enjoy a great deal.
I find these discussions curiously interesting, not interesting enough to research how to make my truck sound loud mind you, but interesting none the less.

When your engine sounds this good why would you ever want it to be quiet...

That said, I did quiet it down

Cut off the cats, scrap them, then cut off the rest of the exhaust. Done.

I had that Flowmaster American Thunder cat back dual exhaust on my truck for about a month. It sounds really good driving around town or even out on a normal highway at 75 mph or so. First trip up to Flagstaff Arizona from Phoenix and I about lost my mind. That thing made the truck sound like it was climbing the hill at a hundred and ten but I was only in 3rd gear trying to do 65 or so. People were moving over to get out of our way but we weren't gaining on them. I was so embarrassed and tired of hearing that damn thing shift back into 3rd, I had to just turn the stereo off because it was a loosing effort. My wife didn't say anything until I admitted "this exhaust was not a good idea." My wife as actually on her phone at the time and started laughing, telling me she was reserving a rental car to drive herself back to Phoenix when we left Flag. Anyways I took that damn thing off. Thank goodness I saved the stock exhaust. I about tossed the stock exhaust after driving around town and down to Palm Desert a few times. The neighbor across the street has a daughter that has a Tacoma so I ended up giving her the Flowmaster. Anyways, I would put that stock exhaust in the storage for awhile before you toss it.

To sum up my above story, I would pay well over double to replace an aftermarket exhaust with the factory exhaust on my Tacoma.

My stock exhaust and a one week old MBRP are hanging in my garage rafters. Stock was too low for me to hear (hearing loss from my early years from loud music, loud women, and loud guns). After day one of MBRP which sounded like a young kid in a bumble bee car, I ordered Borla S-type cat back and got it within the week. Just right. Me and my manual trans love it.

Why do you want to sound like you are doing 90 mph but only going 20?

I'm not sure what is worse, the cars with loud exhausts or cars with the mega thumping bass that rattles every window within 30 feet. We have a kid on my street that I can "feel" coming about 30 seconds before he passes my house.

The crackle exhaust that backfires is the worst for me. I want to throw bearings at their car when I’m riding bikes with my kid.

The budget way is to drill holes in the resonator and muffler. Then you can 'tune' it by drilling more if needed, or putting metal tape over some if you drill too much.

You also lower vehicle weight with this method.

Recommend dropping the system and drilling from the topside of everything, so any potential casual visual inspections won't be a problem.

If you've got $ to blow, weld in a sweet electric cutout system. That lets you be in control of the loud, yet keep mamma happen going to the grocery.
