+30hr ordeal; can't imagine having to deal with that shit

What sucks is, you're not even responsible for the maintenance of that trailer but you're dealing with the repercussions

Turns out no one is responsible for maintaining U-Haul trailers. I had to rivet in the tail light of the last one I used. Fell out on the ride to go get the car.

    Depends on usage

Personally I love the 80 series; solid as fuck, stupid capable, and the nostalgia it brings is awesome

If we didn't have a baby, I'd still be rocking the 80 series

But also, I would actually want to off road with the 80 series and so it makes more sense just having a dedicated crawler (once I find/buy one)

The GX is too comfy though, and having rear AC is a huge plus

I wouldn't have gone with the GX at all though if I had any intentions of wheeling with it, so many other platforms that are capable and for less money

Hoping mine doesn't stretch to 30 hours. I'm 13 hours into my 4.5 hour drive home and still don't have a tow truck here.

I've had to use the U-Haul roadside support before... Often times they just send a rando from the closest city with parts they think might fix the trailer... We've had them bring sketchy ass tires before. Sometimes they'll tow you out another trailer. It's almost never what you actually need the first time though and you'll have to call again

Yeah, you nailed it. Been getting into more technical stuff lately, and the want for a trail tractor is appealing. Just hard considering the GX is so comfortable and the rear AC is awesome for the dogs. Was hoping you were going to have some insight that was going to sway me to the 80...

I'd ask you if you wanted to trade if you had a 460.

I ran mine through the technical stuff (a few black diamond trails) at Hollister Hills and that's where it excels.

    Screenshot 2023-06-29 010143.jpg

I ran no lift, and with just 33s and a lunchbox locker it made shit look stupid easy compared to what others were running.

If you insist on carrying the pooches, sure grab an 80 series. I went with the same Dobinsons progressive coils that @Speedytech7 runs and it made daily driving this thing super comfortable.

I easily ran multiple 6-8hr drives and felt no fatigue.

I wouldn't wheel with a GX though, even though ATRAC alone is pretty cool and I've seen it work well first-hand.

Yes. The 470 is comfortable, the 460 is just a bit over the top with the auto folding seats and the extra bs. Would love to have the 1UR-FE, but not worth the change from 470 to 460 IMO.

I currently daily the 470, so trying to see if an 80 series is "dailyable" once it's fit out. I have yet to break anything on the 470, but feel that my time is coming as I get more adventurous. Have been eyeing Fordyce over the last few years, but get hesitant with the GX.

I am having an internal fight with myself on selling the GX and getting an 80, then using the Taco for a daily. Could sell the Taco and the 470 and get a nice 80 and shitbox daily. The struggle is real.

The 80 series is easy to daily, easily.

I used to daily my Z06; you ever daily one?

Noise vibration harshness is worse than a non-Z easily.

Plus it's just straight up inconvenient since you must wear New balances and jean shorts with tube socks
