How can I get this crap off?

I had a little grip pad on the top of my dash that my little brother got to and now I'm trying to get it off but nothing seems to work. It's made of rubber and it was glued on pretty well and since the sun is almost constantly on it the remainder of the pad is hardened and just looks bad. Can someone tell me something that will work to remove it and not damage my dash above the stereo?

But I see now you had no luck with that .

 

Remember as you get more agressive with the solutions, to try them on an inconspicuous area of the dash first.

You don't want to melt a hole in it (unlikely) or score/scuff the finish (likely) and make it worse.

 

WD40 is good on adhesives

 

Bug and tar remover....

 

Try using goo gone this slide some fishing line back and forth underneath it to break the adhesive.

Yeah, be careful. Otherwise you'll have a nice white spot on the middle of your black dash from taking the finish off.

Hand Sanitizer? The alcohol in that actually helped me remove a darn sticker that left adhesive on the tailgate.

 

Ya be really careful using solvents on your dash. Stuff like goof-off will melt it for sure.

I fucked a part of my dash with an adhesive also. Some of the finish was removed. I repaired the dash by masking oustide the damaged area (about a 5''X2''), and painted it with black matte primer using a ''foam'' brush. It did the job well, nobody that does not know that the area was repaired won't notice it.
