    Hi Dave,

I’m looking to install a Leer camper shell on my Tacoma…there are 3 wires that have to be spliced into the factory harness. The colors from the camper shell are

    red
    Black
Red with a white tracer (or could be opposite can’t remember)

what options do I need to select when purchasing ?

So does your kit have a bulkhead Deutsch connector to omit the dangling wires when cap is removed ?

    Hey Dave,

had a look at the harness. I have the Tag module. Do I need to send you mine out of my shell ? Is it just to cut off the molex connector and replace it with a Deutsch ?

can I just place the order for that harness and install it as is ?

You would order my TAG harness bundle for best results. It’s as plug and play as I can build it. There is minimal cutting needed. The lock and unlock signals are the only complicated parts. You buy the pop and lock leer shell lock module and then you have to crimp male molex terminals on the blue and green wires which go in the top 4 way connector to feed the lock solenoid. I could just start offering that piece as well, I probably should. Then you specify which tailgate lock harness you have, OEM is best if you haven’t bought one yet. That has an intercept where the signals are tapped to feed into the TAG fuse box.

I don’t have a TAG bundle without the lock portion as an option but I could. It’s just nicer with power lock and not a lot of additional work. The Oem lock harness in particular is a great mod.

My TAG bundle is meant to pair with a taillight fuse box made by switch which can also supply aux power for something if you run power to the battery. It includes a Deutsch flange and a harness from that flange to the TAG fuse box.

If you just want to connect what you have, drill a small hole, install a grommet, feed the 3 wires through, ground the black wire and order a brake T and a cargo T to connect the other two wires for brake and shell dome light.

Ok, I don’t have a power lock setup yet but I’ll go with the OEM lock as suggested and I do plan on putting in an auxiliary fuse box.

can you post the link to that harness I’d need and I’ll order it or is it the same one as mentioned above?

also do you have the headlight harnesses still ?

My truck is a Canadian unit that didn’t get the OEM LED headlights stock from Toyota. If you could post both links in the reply I can order both and save on shipping.

thanks again for answering my questions

Is there a number I can call you at ?

I had the idea in mind I’d need one thing but then when I look at the option to order what I think I’d need there’s other things I had no clue about that even existed regarding the headlights….

    Ok,

well…with regards to the headlight harness….if I were planning on having the options of the most accessories that I can….which one should I choose ? Also would there be dummy plugs to block off any open sockets so the elements don’t corrode them in the meantime not having mentioned accessories?

I am interested in having lights for the raptor grill, also backlights for future upgraded dog lights (didn’t know backlights were a thing until now)

I guess there’s no harm in having a longer wire like the 12” ?

I guess you tell me if I should get dual output or passenger ?

Dual output is best positioned for the backlight feeds as it avoids a wire across the grille. It is a bit pricey as far as a setup goes, so I offer a cheaper SS3 harness off a single side which has one long arm and one short arm.

If you look closely at the photos you'll see the waterproof amp male connector cap with green plugs in it for unused feeds. This is most important/useful for the conversion harness but I also include with the LED T to make life a little easier when swapping things out.

I can't decide for you as your plans could change but it's rare that people need the high beam if not using a switch-pros or doing some sort of custom setup with a high beam trigger. So the standard grille light feed is usually the most practical, typically just the driver side since that gets you support for the v5's, grille lights and ss3 backlights.

I don't personally like the 12" long harnesses but I offer it for people with dual batteries on the driver side or compressors on the passenger side where space is super tight and it's best to route the conversion harness connectors up the fender towards the cab. If you don't have a compressor or a dual battery then the 7" makes more sense to me. However, I do have 12" premade whereas I don't have 7" w grille premade right now so I don't mind if you want to buy the 12" at all, works better for me. I just would rather have less bulk than more bulk personally.
