Man, I’ve never had more problems with a truck than this one. lol. Sort of laughing and crying at the same time. Anyway, here’s the latest. I just noticed this problem, it would seem as a result of the cooler weather maybe? Never did this before since I got the truck a few months ago. I guess I could best explain it as a lag in shifting, almost enough to throw me forward a little, like as if I was braking. Like for a split second. Seems to happen most noticeably at low speeds (25 - 40 mph give or take) when trans shifts in the first few gears, first being the worst. Seems to go away after truck warms up and/or has been driven for a few minutes or so. after sitting for a few hours or overnight does it again. I’ve had a few tundras, a few tacomas, over the years and never noticed anything like this before. Is this a common thing or possibly something wrong? I can’t imagine it being normal so hoping someone out there might have some insight. Thanks again everyone.

Mine does something similar during warm up: When I tip into the gas (at about the speeds you mentioned) it will downshift but the engine sags or hesitates for a moment. It doesn’t bother me because it’s only at a certain engine temp …..I feel it probably once a month.
I believe there is a reflash available from Toyota for a hesitation in the form of TSB 0092-20. They’re very vague as to what exactly they are addressing so I chose not to change my calibration.
My truck runs fine, run yours hard for a full tankful of gas and I bet it’s a different truck after.

Just a heads up prepare yourself for every odd feeling such as clunks, shifts, squeaks, weird idling , ticking engine, etc. these trucks are OLD school with every noise under the sun
