1st Gen Haltech ECU Discussion

Well it seems that this may have just been a corroded connector to the throttle body on the wiring harness side. I cleaned the connectors up and haven't had an issue for about a week.

Same and same. Cold starts are a bitch when your AFR sensor drops out because you've thermally shocked it to death. Had my O2 control starting after 10 seconds, but my wideband took a dump so the truck would immediately die. Upped the time before O2 control to 60 seconds and had to rev the truck a few times for the AFR sensor to come to life. I still bought a new sensor though. Anyway...

Are you going to add extra lights to the mount for things like turn signals, high beams, etc...

 

I hadn't planned to since those features can be integrated directly into the ic7 I think a lot of those options are for less feature dense displays. I will likely add my own light for four-wheel drive though

 

Do you know if it will it display fuel levels, coolant and trans fluid temps?

 

Yes and it will do trans if it's wired up to do trans control

 

how much more I/O does the IC7 give you? Those might fill up pretty quick when trying to replicate the indicators the stock dash has.

 

Well the kind folks at Haltech have saved you brainpower of worrying about such things since they want it to be a dash replacement it has reserved inputs for signals. The other 5 inputs are yours to do whatever with and I think the coming update lets you repurpose the tacho as well. Worth noting the GPS speedo option will soon be able to feed back to the ECU.

 

Ah that's convenient. Water temp, fuel level, and oil pressure would wake up 3 of those 5.
Would be cool if someone made a patch harness with flying leads on the other end to connect up to the toyota side for the dash stuff.

 

Water temp comes from the ECU so don't need to use an input for it, fuel level would use one though, this would be a good opportunity to replace the oil dummy pressure switch with a real pressure sender for sure and use one for that.

 

Ah yea that's right about the water temp.
I wonder what the settings look like for the fuel level on the IC7. Would be nice to add a longer debounce timer to it and possibly add in a miles until empty calc based on fuel level percentage

 

You can look at all the settings by downloading the ICC software, it's free. But be warned it'll be changing soon as they're building all the new functionality for the skin builder and IC7 configuration into NSP so whatever you learn you'll probably have to relearn haha. I do know it has settings for voltage and resistance ranges depending on what you'd prefer to setup by and you can configure the delay in reaction (filter) to some degree on all AVIs

 

Maybe this has been covered and I missed it, would Inputs into the dash be relayed back to Ecu via Can and able to setup a safety (ex: Oil pressure drops below 5psi so Ecu cuts ignition, or Fuel level below 1/4 tank so boost is cut to base spring pressure)?

 

The video I posted a couple weeks ago shows Haltech has a 4 part update schedule laid out for the IC7 to realize the full potential of it's hardware. So yes after the future updates (they said around December) it will relay all its inputs back to the ECU to be used and logged.

 

These things are so cool!
