TRD/ Magnuson 4.0 Supercharger Tips, Tricks, and Mods

Will the thermostat spacer be absolutely required to run the sc? My used kit didn't come with it and it's proving quite difficult to locate. It looks like it provides clearance between the thermostat and sc belt. I'm wondering if I can clock the thermostat housing to where it won't interfere with the sc but.

 

Dude. It was THE WORST. It took me about 5 hours if I remember right because of the way the mounts were designed and how they used jam nuts instead of standard nuts. I had to take a manual crescent at one point and go one turn at a time on one section at one point. Tons of swivels, adapters and extensions... It was a mess. It didn't help that I was replacing my PS rack at the same time either, but that's another here nor there.. anyways, long story short, I'm glad it's over and they do work killer but if I had to do it again I'd pull off the AC compressor and move it to the side while I did my work.

 

Flex head wrenches.

 

Had to use them too. It was just a suck job. Lol.

 

i have them...but not mechanic grade. i should though.

 

if that took you 5 hrs i may do it in 3 days....

 

Headers with SAIS tube are the worst!

 

Those SAIS tubes are crap. That entire system was added as an afterthought and when you work on it, it shows.

I used flex head wrenches, a flex head ratchet, and every combination of ratchet extension from couple inches to a foot Hahaha.

Everything but the kitchen sink. Seemed every bolt needed a different combination of tools.

Putting it out there again… I think I found the replacement for the Taco, so mine (previously crashnburn’s) 2015 will be for sale ASAP. I have a few small things to do for maintenance, but it’s ready to go. Selling the camper separately, so spread the word for anyone looking for a well sorted 2nd gen with no issues. 91k miles.

Located in Denver (rarely driven in the salt and only a few small spots of surface rust from where the bolt-on sliders rubbed on the frame exposing the bare metal).

Unfortunately I'm also a competitive precision rifle shooter and and love shooting in the dark so this is going to take some juggling between travelling, reloading, and nods lol

I am seeing that lmao, although the guy promised me dual exhaust with an xpipe would be much better then stock
