Don't have to turn ON auto high beam and the phone charger? They are off by default.

Change lane assist? You mean Blind Spot Monitor? I don't understand why anyone would turn that off. It doesn't beep. It is just an orange blinking light on the side view mirrors. All it can do is help.

They mean lane assist. The feature that beeps at you if you change lanes without signaling. There’s a button on the steering wheel for it

Lane Departure Warning is the feature. It is intended to alert you if you are drifting. It disables itself if you use the turn signals because you are doing it intentionally.

People who actually use their blinkers as intended won’t get the alert.

I’m well aware of what the function is, how it works and how to prevent it from beeping.
The post you replied to said they turned it off, used the wrong term for it (I did as well) and you incorrectly assumed they meant bsm. That is all.
Good luck trying to control how other people drive and what features they do or don’t use though, should be a fun exercise in futility

Im trying to get your point here.
If I turned off those functions that "come off by default" its because, I had it on at some point and don't like/use it that much.
and now you know and we all know the right name of that function, thanks for research.

Apologies to both. I was in a pissy mood this morning. I also mistakenly though Auto High Beams and the Phone Charger turned off automatically upon the engine getting turned off. I believe I am wrong and once they are on they stay on until turned off.

Man I feel this. I both respect and admire you so much for this comment. I’m more guilty than most for taking my feelings out on the forums, but rarely have the maturity to own it as such like you did.
I hope you have an awesome weekend!

I am leaving it all on considering I came from a vehicle with Lane Keeping, Blind spot monitoring, Adaptive Cruise, Reverse crash mitigation with auto braking, front crash mitigation....I took delivery of my Taco SR5 2wd today.

All that tech, you should get a 2nd Gen the pre 2.5.

Literally no excessive “tech” or “gimmicks”, that is meant to be “trendy”.

I turned off auto high beam way back but tried it again the other night, I’m still getting on coming cars flashing their brights at me. It doesn’t work that well and I’ll keep it off from now on. I tried radar cruise for the third time on the interstate and it still sucks. LDA stays off but BSM has saved me from a couple of fender benders. Will never use Parking Assist. Haven’t tried the ECT feature yet, I believe it just changes the way the Bud Light (tranny) shifts.

There are some things I’m trying to turn on not off. Been reading the manual about the phone, Wi-Fi, navigation, multimedia system ect. Geez, I’m a dinosaur when it comes to this techy stuff. But I got an Ace in the hole. My neighbor is coming over with his 18 y/o granddaughter. These youngsters know all about this stuff, lol.

My BSM doesn't work with my aftermarket bumper so BSM for me. I never really liked relying on that anyways so it's not a big deal.

Lane departure alert gets turned off once the snow flies. The plow drivers in the mountains choose where you drive , and the white lines are merely suggestions.

The chirp on lock/unlock was one of the settings set to “off” by the dealer before delivery.

For a while when my lane assist would beep if I drifted, I thought something was wrong with my truck. My wife would say, "what's that beeping noise?" and I'd say, "I don't know, piece of shit truck is randomly beeping"

I removed those annoying stickers on the sun visor.
Not if you live in a northern climate. The snow plows don't always follow the lines exactly, so the lines are often in the middle of the plowed lanes, causing inaccurate lane departure warnings.

Of course, with my tinnitus, I can't even hear the beeps unless the radio is turned off, so it's just another expensive, put useless feature. I don't know why they wouldn't but a vibrator in the seat or steering wheel, like in my friend's jeep.

I've driven cars also where the steering wheel tries to keep you in your lane. I honestly don't mind the beep and I keep it on 95% of the time. Vibration or steering wheel nudging me to stay in lane would drive me nuts.

I turned off Lane Departure Alert immediately. This thing chirped almost non-stop, when I wasn't even close to crossing lanes, so much so that it proved to be a dangerous distraction. I will never reactivate it.
