Fair enough. I don't have nice wheels on either vehicle sooo yea...

 

These are my summer wheels . Nothing crazy but I run the OEM steel wheels in the winter .

 

I'm just waiting to wear down the factory Goodyears. They definitely don't perform how I like. I put 20K on the other truck before I had enough

I’ve been running the Wildpeaks on both sets of wheels for years now . They are great

 

Once my summer rubber is worn out I thinking a narrower size . Right now I have 285/70 17 which rub the mud flap in reverse at full lock . But mostly to get some better mileage if possible.

Story Time With Gritto


When you think about it, some peoples' lives can take very unexpected turns.

I have an old friend, Art, who was a reporter for the local paper, the Record Herald.
Before that, he was with the Public Opinion.
He called them the Pubic Onion and Reckless Herald, respectively.
What a joker

Anyway, he reached his early 30s, was unmarried, and decided he needed a change.
Boy, did he ever get one.
He joined the Peace Corps

He ended up in Latvia for a couple years, teaching English.
This was in 1992, just after the breakup of the Soviet Union.

So of course he came home with a Latvian wife, Yeva, a classically trained pianist.
They stayed with us for a few days.
Yeva told us stories of living under the boot of the Russians.
She had been in Komsomol, a communist youth organization.
Her English was very good, and she knew a helluva lot about firearms

Yeva was enchanted by our mountains (Latvia is very flat).
Also, Latvia is heavily forested, but with conifers and birch.
So southern Pennsylvania and its oak forests were very interesting to her.

Anyway, we took a jaunt in Michaux State Forest, which I knew very well.
We drove the gravel lumbering roads and stopped a few times for short hikes.

The stars aligned that beautiful day in early September.

We hiked to a fire tower and in a small field covered in milkweed were hundreds of Monarch butterflies, the last ones of the season.
They were emerging from their chrysalises, and about to start their migration south.

We hiked to the cliffs at the Hermitage, and I mentioned that sometimes one could see Copperheads and Rattlesnakes there.
The snakes, obligingly, were there, sunning themselves
Yeva said that there was only one venomous snake in Latvia, The European Adder, and it was uncommon.

We saw ravens, deer, turkeys, raccoons, a red fox, a Goshawk, a Cooper's Hawk.
All the critters were out and about that day.
About the only thing Yeva didn't get to see was a Black Bear.

On the way back, we stopped at the monument to Mary Jemison, who was taken captive by the Shawnee during the French and Indian War (1756-1763).
It's at a little Catholic church, high up in a side valley.

It was a wonderful day, and Art was glad to see his new wife so happy.


Anyway, Art took a job as an English teacher in a Philly suburb.
Yeva taught piano, and had more students than she could handle.
They're still there, but talking about retiring close to us.

Beautiful story!! I went to bed about 10 last night and didn’t fall asleep till after 11. Then I woke up at 1:30 and didn’t get back to sleep till about 3:00. The alarm went off at 4:15. I’m dragging my ass today.

part 2.
I get to work and hook to my loaded trailer. Every tire was below 75 psi so I drag it up to the garage to air up the tires and the low voltage warning comes on in my tractor. Now I’m sitting here waiting for these people to fix it so I can get started on my day. It’s gonna be a long day.
