First section of the top is in the clamps. 2 of these will form 1 section of the top, 3 will be made.

Before I start on my own bed I gotta complete this custom walnut island top for a client. They wanted a pop of color with the resin. Some Before and after pics, finished with Rubio monocoat hardwax oil. Install it next week I hope.

Man, gotta love walnut crotch figure, it's one of the best. I like how you left the sapwood too.

I'm glad it's not just my garage floor with drips of blue resin on it.
Beautiful top. I'm sure your client will be pleased.

Yeah, the pics don't do justice to how pretty that crotch figure really is. A nice live edge definitely accentuates the tones with the dark heart and lighter sapwood. Can't wait to see it all done.

Hahaha yeah there's plenty of resin drips on the floor. The guys who did this concrete floor did a crappy job, It's rough and uneven and chipping, so I'll let the resin level the floor little by little! My shop is definitely a mess though.

It might work, but I'm just not that worried about it. The epoxy is very thin so it levels out nice and flat, it doesn't leave a hump or anything. If the floor was a nice polished level and flat concrete I'd be more worried...and careful. But it's just a workshop, I don't loose sleep over spilt epoxy.

Think of the epoxy scrap project you could make with all your epoxy scraps. Haha I feel you though.

They make a self-leveling concrete, very thin and is probably a better mix than original from what you describe. Spread out, it will be flat due to gravity. Intended for surface coating instead of large gap fill.

Oh yes. Im familiar with self leveling concrete. I just gotta do it one day. It's high in about as many places as it's low, I'd have to grind concrete in spots as well. Moving everything out of the garage and actually doing it is a big step for a professional procrastinator like me! Ill get around to it one day. Haha

First of this batch finished. The other two have nicer bark. I think I'm going to do a big batch of these to stock.

Very nice! But I feel like the picture should be a landscape of a bunch of birch trees! o_O:rofl:

I do have some nice shots of birch colonies, but none landscape oriented!

I had a short day at work again so I took advantage of it and went down to the shop.
I got two sections like this ran through the jointer to smooth the bottom. 2 sections like this will get glued together.
    20231018_183812.jpg
I got another one in the clamps. 3 down and 3 to go.
    20231018_181312.jpg
Then I emptied the dust collector drum again. I'll have 2 drum liner bags full for yrash pickup tomorrow.
Just gluing, and clamping, and scraping, repeat, lol.
