I wonder how much the delays in permitting costs SpaceX.

 

I doubt they can quel the noise without ending up with another Boeing Max tragedy but it would be nice to get to work on streamlining the process in tandem with the rise in cadence. I don’t see how space flight can approach the safety record of air travel though. Shit’s gonna happen and people on the ground won’t be immune. What could go wrong? leaves a lot of room.

 

Write your congressman and urge them to increase the FAA’s budget. It’s going to cost money to somebody. Do the license fees cover it? I couldn’t find any info on what Spacex pays.

Hope springs eternal. I’ve been wondering what marvels Psyche will reveal, new elements, isotopes, alloys, things too heavy that form or concentrate too far below the mantle to rise to the light of day or just don’t exist on earth. The kinds of missions we’ll be doing in the years afterwards will depend both on what we find and what we can bring to the party. Anything similar that hit the moon likely dispersed on impact so high density asteroids like Psyche might be our best source for usable quantities/concentrations. Somehow I don’t think a repurposed oil drilling rig will do the job.
