My 14yo cousin just posts up this on her FB wall "Never had sex, smoked weed, been drunk, snuck out OR skipped a class.if you think im lying, like this status." and her friends are clicking like as if there were Beiber tickets up for grabs.

What the hell do you say to that? I own a collection agency and have ways of hunting people down so I have a few thoughts.. But what would you do?

Out of curiosity, who would you hunt down? Your cousin is the one that chose to do all those things. It's absurd to blame anyone but her for her own actions.

There is a reason I quit Facebook and only register with sites (like here) that I can retain a certain amount of anonymity.

Sure, someone could probably find me based on the posts I have made here - but how many mid-20 year old males own Taco's in Easter WA? I mean, it's a little more difficult than Googling someone's name off their FB page.

Facebook is either going to be a ruination of a generation or it will come to be an accepted norm (i.e no one will give a shit if you overshare).

However, you only have to take a cursory glance at the news or site's like www.isanyoneup.com to see how the internet (and people's stupidity) has ruined their lives (or could ruin their lives).

The internet is a double-edged sword and unfortunately most kids (fuck it, most people) are too stupid to understand that.

The only thing you can do is hope that she doesn't post / do something that will make it online and that she'll regret later.

Or maybe I'm just getting old.

    / Get off my lawn.
