Swapped out my wheels and got baby some new shoes - Falken Rubitrek A/T. Kind of impressed how much a difference the 265/75s make.IMG_6813.jpg

I looked at Wildpeaks but those were over $200; are they cheaper elsewhere?

At First I wanted an ARE, but the smart cap was less than the ARE, and seemed stronger.

Hey guys, anyone remember the plain throw back wheels someone posted a while back? They're a remake in alloy of the steelies I believe. 1526? Tia. I think they might look nice on my cement OR.

The cab wall is great place to mount traction boards, if you use them.

I updated our flatbed prototype with some additional add-ons:

    1. Added a full size spare (35") and a Pro-Eagle Jack to the front rack

    2. Added some crossbars to the rack to carry items up top more easily.

I’m waiting for my stock 70s to wear out so I can put on 75s. At the price of tires, I can wait.

I couldn’t wait. But I got the spare et al mounted for a grand. $200/ea installed with road hazard seemed good enough of a deal.

I’ve seen the wildpeak drop to $150 each on Amazon. Not sure how much it’d be for the install

anyways just mean keep an eye out, never know what you’ll find

Congrats on the Smartcap. I recently got mine and promptly got into an accident and had to remove it to fix the truck. Now that it's back on, I had to deal with water leakage. Is it coming from the cap itself or from under the bed cover or the gap between the side panel and the back panel? If from the cap, check the torque of the bolts. Should be 3.7 ft/lbs. I needed to go slightly higher to stop it where it was leaking from. If you put too much torque on it, you risk the chance of stripping the threaded part from fastener block.
If the water is coming from the gap between the truck bed panels, if you remove the cap you can slide in some rubber gasket material to fill it, or if don't want to remove the cap, use black silicone to fill that gap. I used the silicone.
I also had water leakage coming from the sliding window. For that one, the window wasn't closed completely. It looked like it was but it wasn't locked all the way. The water traveled along the window seam to the little half moon cutout where it dripped down from there. The window just needed to be closed properly.

So far its passed the water hose test where I hosed it down for 15 minutes with no water leakage. I'll need a good rain storm to know for sure.

A big problem with the Tacoma is that there are a lot of holes under that composite bed rail cover. I had the body shop cover the top of the bed rail with an aluminum foil tape (there are posts in TW from others that have done that). It will also help with dust. That said, the tape only stops any splash that is coming from under the truck. Water can still come through by just sliding between the bed rail and the composite cover. If ever a reason to remove the cap and those rail covers, I'll lay down some kind of silicone barrier between them.

    Hope this helps

No pics to offer, but others have put up the same stuff, before.

Installed a pair of ThinSkinz covers on the rear doors, to protect them from the pups. I had tried fabric ones that came with a couple of seat protector hammocks that I bought, but they never stayed in place, once the dogs started bouncing around (3 Pekinese). These covers have a very satisfying click when they seat in place, and I feel confident that they will be a good long term solution to the problem. Once in place, the door levers are still accessible, and the window switches are protected by sprung flaps over them, that will keep the dogs from hitting them, but still allow access for passengers, when you have them.

I also installed the Cartrim Drivers window control module so that I now have auto up and down windows all the way around. The switch came with a plastic pry bar for removing the armrest bezel. Very easy conversion, remove bezel, unplug two connectors, unscrew three screws holding the module to the bezel. Reassembly is the reverse, with the new switch module. About 10 minutes, including testing the new switch. The toughest part was convincing the connector to come off the back of the original module. I'll repeat the warnings from others that the rear doors DO NOT have all the pressure sensitive safeties of the front doors, so this may not be for everyone, but after discovering that the Thinskinz cover the rear window switches, I'm comfortable with that, now.

Nope. That's about it. Wildpeaks were $200 each so I decided not to get them again at that price. I really thought hard on the rubitrek but they were about $160 each which was still a little high for me. I have a feeling I'm going to regret not getting these.

I wound up getting some GT Radial Adventuro ATX tires for less than $500 it was a good price and they "seem" like they will be a good SL tire with good on road mannerisms... Hopefully they do as well as the wildpeak.... Although I doubt they will measure up.
