The upper shackle bolt goes through, then you'd make a shackle based off the outer ring, that will mate to the leaf.

    Edit...

Guess they become the shackle mount...johnny_joint_shackle_l.jpg

This is what I was thinking...

    mb1523-2.jpg

I like the first option better, especially with some hammer hangers

You weld them to the frame side of the shackle. Here are mine. Had my buddy Adam G. Of Aggressive Fab (builds our cages and what not locally) TIG weld them and the shackles are MIG welded by Eddy when SOS was open and owned by him

@tacobell007 that is the design I had in mind. Explained better than I, and better pic. I feel that would provide a stronger SHACKLE.

The other design would be easier to make, and work well. Probably better for something where the springs are under the frame, etc

They work great. My buddy's 4runner has the frame side mounts as Johnny Joints. These are a poly cup and are rebuildable. These should have been under my truck by now but I moved and then bought a house within a year and a half of moving back

I like the JJs. Had them on the frame end of the long arm Clayton Offroad kit under my WJ. Just make sure you use the right grease! I trashed a set with the wrong grease.

Still might have the tool here, not sure if I sent it with the jeep when I sold it

Yup! I have some poly bushing specific grease that I use for my UCA bushings

I would, you can gain a couple inches of travel just from using them

Bed cage for sure, but I'd probably need to go SUA to really utilize 16s and the loss of clearance ain't worth the extra travel to me. But a bed cage with the spare mounted to it would be (look) sick

Bed cage on 14s with top mounted and slight inboard setup... that's what my plan has been for awhile now lol. With a spare tire mount incorporated. My buddy's run this and I know how it works and it works quite well. I'd personally rather go with that from the start than doing just a relocate

You could do it without the spare mount and it really wouldn't take up much bed space
