I definitely have an eye toward resale on this house. The gf and I both are pining for the mountains and working that direction over the next few years.

Yeah it’ll be nice to have that amount of space, so much less tripping over stuff to do stuff.

@Kwikvette it took me a while to realize these AM5 CPUs love to run HOT. AMD has apparently specifically said that 95C is the design temp and it will regulate speeds around that and that higher (lower than 95C) are nothing to worry about. So it didn't matter what I did to voltage or fan speed, the die would still stay above 50C at idle and the fan noise was noticeable. So I drastically reduced the fan speed profile and lo and behold, it's fine. So the heatsink wasn't even saturating, so the fan was just being noisy needlessly. My conclusion is the lid on the CPU just doesn't transfer heat as well as I'm used to (or as well as Intel maybe). I am gonna 2x check the thermal paste contact next time I have it open, but it does seem like it's just something to get used to.

All of this has changed in a very subtle way in the last decade since I last cared: reaching frequencies/speeds/performance isn't something you have to tune yourself anymore - the curves are pre-programmed and temperature is the limiting factor, hence why boost clock is up to almost 6GHz now out of the gate. You tune how low of a voltage/power it takes to get there to get better performance. Whereas before it was how much extra voltage you could squeeze through to crank up the frequency above the design limit before you blue screened or reached extreme temps immediately.

My old 3770K on that custom water loop I posted a few weeks ago idled at 30C overclocked.

I attended a rural public high school. When I'd show up in the morning with stubble I'd be sent to the front office to shave. They'd hand me one of those awful Bic razors which were exactly what prison inmates use.

I wouldn't bring my safety razor or shaving cream from home because it felt like that would just be giving in to their archaic rules. And they would've suspended me for bringing a razor on campus.

Doubletree has cookies. They had no razors.

And I can’t stop thinking about Mitch hedburg when I’m here

Windows 10 network settings are a hot mess. Depending on where I look, I have one of 4 different ip addresses.

Yeah it's crap, should really only have two for a given network adapter

Oh some days I’ll have 6 or 7.

But what’s fun is when adapter settings, the new settings manager, and ipconfig all report different things.

Never been a big fan of putting solvents in the fuel because of past experiences clogging fuel filters... Turns out the Camry just has a strainer basket and no fine filter so I put a few ounces of berrymans B12 in the last fill-up and it cleared up my rough idle and high RPMs on cold start lol
