You appeared to be mildly low on fuel pressure around 33-35ish spectrum of the deal. That would more then definitely trigger some issues. Especially with as intelligent these PCM's these days are woth registering deficiencies in either air, fueling, or spark issues.

I was definitely going to mention the ridiculously high long term fuel trims but given the issues you created for diagnostic reasons that makes some sense. As far the issue yoj would have had otherwise I could forsee LTFT's of at least +10 or so seeing where as stock is normally around + -5 to 6.

The ltft were constantly about 25, the 30 in the pic was just from the leak I created to test the MAF.

Pump does not run, with the engine off and key in on position. Not on these trucks.

With the relays jumped as per the FSM it does. Toyota has a SST that does it.

Let me rephrase what I said. Just make sure that if anyone asks, to inform them that just turning the key to the on position will not prime or run the pump. A lot of incorrect information out there since so many other vehicles do prime at key on. Outside of this thread. I need more coffee. :pccoffee:

Sandman, I totally hear what you are saying... but...what I am saying IS: Toyota clearly told me the aftermarket cats do not work to the same level as Toyota cats. I could clear the issue by spending the $2000 Canadian on new Toyota cats. They told me that. The company that sold me the new cats SAID the same. I am not trying to say I may not have a bad fuel pump too..hell, I may have a slew of things. I am trying to tell you that I am covering up an inefficient cat. This does it. Next time I am in Toyota I will have them run a fuel pump diagnostic for fun. You may be right on that one too! :)

I thought it was cats too as I also replaced mine with Toyota Cats, granted they were used. I just don't want you or anyone else to get the run around when it's such an easy thing to check. Meanwhile I have a pair of front manifolds/cats sitting in my garage that are perfectly good, I'll let them go for $300 us .

It goes in the tank, it's the kit that URD USA sells for replacing the factory one. Before you dive into it, check your pressure, if the pressure is good no need.

I'm not necessarily sure I trust Walbro pumps after what I have heard witb them and my semi bad experience with one. I would go with the AEM 320lph black or green top pump. Has never let me down in any weather.

Another thing, don't replace the cats until you have addressed the impending problem or the replacements will suffer the same fate your current ones are having.

When you stack the anti-foulers which one do you put closer to the O2 sensor ? The one drilled out to 1/2" or the one with the smaller hole diameter ?

Did you drill both to 1/2" ?

I believe you bore out the one simply to allow the O2 sensor to fit. I did this years ago but never installed it caused I ended up leaving California. my O2 sensor is seized was another big reason, so watch out for that as well. Good Luck!

I ended up replacing both O2 sensors ( after 370 K ) i thought this was a good start. Did not resolve the issue. Ended up purchasing a set of the larger spacers ( no drilling required sensor fits in nice ) and the codes did not return. Truck gets rustproofed yearly, O2 sensors came out no problem.

    upload_2023-10-18_12-14-1.png

When you are putting them on, make sure you use anti-seize on antifouler's and O2 sensors.

I'm just Curious - they work because when you use them the sensor really isn't in the main stream of the catalytic converter - is that correct ? Thanks - Curious George

That is correct. The 02 Sensor isn’t able to detect the actual amount of what it’s designed to detect. Therefore the truck stops throwing those particular codes.
