Good morning! (still waiting for the coffee to brew)

Spent some time with the youngest son in Nashville yesterday. Always enjoy that. I see an email from my little sister asking for help with mom and dad in Colorado. She lives and works near their home and I get out there every summer for a while; so, with my older sister in NC, we'll be talking. I just don't like leaving my house empty for so long.

Seen on our news channel last night we're expecting a warmer winter this year. :woot:
All that means is instead of 30 days+ of below 0 we may get 1-2 weeks in a row. I'll take it.

    Good Morning Porch Folks

Off to PT again. 2 times a week and home exercises seem to be helping.

    Have a good day all.

    Welcome to the thread.

Good morning. Long drive yesterday and I am tired today. The PA turnpike will suck the life out of you. Why does it seem that there is only a lot of trucks on the PA turnpike until after Pittsburgh, when the road gets curvy with off camber turns?

All the talk about home defense, I am a lousy shot, and it has only gotten worse. This is my home weapon of choice, and I know how to use it. With a flechette round of course.

Anyone else spend the hours necessary to watch the "American Buffalo" x 2 part on PBS? Quite the story. Not exactly a sportsman's tale. Hard to imagine that the scattered conservation efforts have managed to end up with the reported 340,000 live animals within the US.

    Morning all.
View from the balcony. Sort of warm this morning. Nothing seen but nice to get out for a couple hours.

Yeah, I watched the first two hours. Pretty interesting stuff. I never saw them mention the concentrated efforts to buy up prairie in the northern states to make a reserve large enough for natural migration. Maybe they got there after I went to bed. I've been talking about that kind of thing since before I was married. One of those Forest Gump kinds of things. Gotta wonder if my words back then precipitated conversations that led to the real deal. During the farm crisis of the early eighties it would have been a perfect time for the feds to buy out ranchers to amass a large buffalo reserve. I'd like to see something at least 500 miles north to south and fifty miles wide.

My sister-in-law worked for the DNR a few years ago. She got a call yesterday from them, saying that someone shot an illegal elk by mistake and self-reported... and they had an elk that was available if she wanted it. So she called us because she only has room for half. Looks like elk is back on the menu, boys...

Amazing looking planes and I know the ones that are under repair will look the same when done. Thanks for posting Kurt.

We've had some unusual (it seems) aircraft activity going over the house lately. Stuff we don't normally see and more often. I have no idea why. Saw a couple of big twin rotor helos, an Osprey, and a four engine prop plane that looked WW2 vintage bomber flying low and slow within the last month or so. That Osprey is a weird bird...

I live close to Miramar Air Base in San Diego. We see Osprey's all the time, I stop and watch them fly over every time! Very cool aircraft.

Better a clean miss than a wounded animal you might not find.

    Afternoon all:

Absolutely, I will take a clean miss every time over a wounded animal. I had a good open shot, but I had to mouth grunt to stop it, it was looking in my direction when I fired, possibly jumped the string and ducked under the arrow or I just misjudged yardage. :notsure: Normally I have yardage markers hung but was at a spot I don't normally sit and didn't want to stink up the area hanging them.

Oh, and that possible cougar sighting that made national news turned out to be a large house cat!

I googled Air Shows in Utah, but nothing more recent than September. But, it's the end of the season, and the old war birds are criss-crossing the country to get the last shows in. Most of the WWII planes will be flying low to avoid needing oxygen and cold!

Thank you sir! Made me think that I FORGOT to get some really cool pics this afternoon. Every control surface from our P39 is in the shop where I work on the motor. And they were all laid out together. Every bit of them is being completely rebuilt, by hand. The ribs with all new rivets in the frame, and what will be a combination of metal and doped fabric covering. It is real cool, I think. Here's a couple from a couple weeks ago.
