Ebay. Salvaged tacomas are your best bet. 75% of my black out interior came from there. Just need the part numbers.

Got an expedition essentials 2TPAM a while ago not realizing it required the shape of 12-15 trim to bolt on, whereas my truck is 08

hoping old style can be swapped to new
By undoing clips on the vents and swapping them over

tried to order the black one initially (radio surround)
told by Toyota dealer currently on long backorder without known ETA

I imagine HQ won't see a reason to make them as well

might be worth to take your existing trim, prep, and paint

 

Truck basically looks like this, minus hole under right A/C vent whatever that is

So far, switched the outer surround (A/C vents) to 12-15 and painted SEM Trim Black (OEM part 2mo backorder)
which rendered 4x4 switch (upgraded to AJT knobs) no longer able to fit.

Shapewise, outer "bezel" kinda doesn't flow with center "square" that surrounds headunit and tray

Initial real need to go 12-15 bezel was it's bigger and required to mount an Expedition Essentials 2TPAM which IMO is the best accessory mount system.
Want to know if anyone else has successfully done the stuff in this thread to a truly old Taco as in 05-11,
like going from old to new (and black while you're at it)

rather than say, a post-facelift 13 with the same parts in silver simply switching to black

hopefully there's universal parts cross-compatability using a pocket screwdriver to undo tiny hidden clips behind...

 

I'm a little confused by your question. You are trying to fit a accessory mount but your current radio bezel doesn't allow it. So you want to switch to a 2.5 black radio bezel and wondering if the two bezels universally fit? Is that right?

 

I already switched to the bezel. Rendered 4x4 switch non fittable, need to see if 12-15 one would plug in.
What I haven't acquired yet is matte black HVAC trim, and matte black square that holds radio
except in my case, radio is a slim aftermarket head unit, and storage tray underneath.
Under the tray is stock hazard triangle + clock

I would just paint stuff, but the '08 part shapes are odd
and I don't know of any way to paint fine intricate parts like HVAC buttons to preserve the lettering light glow

The 4x4 switch doesn't fit? I could of sworn it did. Bummer.... You might need to get crafty.

Ya there was a time I wanted to paint those buttons but knew it was a long shot. There's an old thread around here somewhere that shows how to print out vinyl stickers accompanied with PDF files. I passed on that and ended up swapping out for a used 2012 HVAC. All I needed was a home made harness. It was worth the effort.

Yeah honestly it's kind of ridiculous to order new plastic panels from dealer totaling $200+ to "black it out" when a good can of paint is $6.
The dealer's pricing to sell the whole thing, not the color. Great if someone karate kicked theirs broken regardless of color and needs to fix that.
Would be cheaper to drive to a pick-a-part leave with a bagfull of everything and then some.

The 12-15 4x4 switch plugged right into my 09, turn the ignition on and can hear it controlling the actuator no problem. Just did this swap with a basic 12-15 radio last week.

 

Beuty setup. Exactly what I want mine to look like. Can you tell me more about your stereo and the stereo surround? Also, are you using part number 55412-04100 for your blacked out center dash vent bezel?

 

Thanks man! Check out the dasaita thread for more info on it. The thread hasn't been updated in awhile but still a good source for info. The head unit comes with it's own bezel, I just wish it wasn't gloss. I might repaint it one day.

Correct. Its a prerunner so no need for the 4x4 cutout.
