I use to keep my KTM 200 XC in the dining room just inside the back door when I lived in a townhouse. It was a chore to get it inside. Had to go up the back steps, pop the front wheel over the lip of the door while the back wheel was still on the top step, and around a tight corner off the entry. Cutting about 2 inches off each bar end helped in the woods, and to get the bike into the house. Dirt bikes stink. Maybe all carbureted bikes? I'd have to take the tank off and leave it out in the garage.

In case there's any question as to why I didn't just leave the bike in the garage, it was unheated. I needed a warm place to break the bike down to grease bearings, replace fork seals and oil, and do whatever mods I was doing.

The Grom with get an intake, cam and a flashed ECU over this winter.

Back when I used to live with my parents I bought a brand new FJ-09 and they let me park it in the living room since there were double doors there.

I am out today casually riding :) on the 2 stroke. A buddy of mine wanted to buy it off me; and I was contemplating it briefly to help fund another bike.

But then I twisted the throttle and looked him in the eyes and said…ain’t no way! Brappp

I would love a newer TBI, but I don’t know if it’s worth it.

What's the other bike you'd buy?

Ooh that's cool but man it'd be hard to give up a 2 stroke. I really would like to experience an RD500 at some point.

Or go with another big twin, like a 22-‘23 Super Adventure R

My issue with it is, that another 2stroke built like this would cost me as much or more than the the newer 701.

My 2 stroke is a woods machine, I mean I will try to conquer anything on it…so it keeps me pushing myself, and not allowing me to get lazy :)

I also have that 500 in both KTM and Beta flavors now. But those are a different beasts than the 2 stroke.
You can really feel the difference in the 2 different bikes. The 4 stroke definitely feels heavier in every way. The 2 stroke, is nimble and is a big trials bike to me. I need to keep it, and just buy the 701.

The TBIs are really nice bikes, a noticeable improvement over the TPIs. To me they're just getting crazy expensive, someone I know just paid almost $14K for a new xcw. I look for leftovers when I buy KTM, I don't need the latest hardware and I can't take advantage of it like I once could so I'm keeping my '20 for awhile. The leftovers usually save me a lot, between $2 and $3K a bike, it also helps that the shop doesn't add on the typical BS charges.

Yep. I think I am gonna wait for another year on buying a newer 2 stroke. The reality is I have been spending more and more time on both bigger bikes and smaller adv bikes.
I am looking for a trials bike to replace the one that sold a couple months ago.

I got no problem trying out the Stark bikes with 80hps!! That is crazy, I mean if you pin the throttle I bet the bike just shoots out from under you. Probably impossible to hold on lol

I've been looking at Beta's partnership with Apollo on their electric dirt bike. $5K I think? https://betausa.com/2024-Explorer/

But yeah that Stark Varg is an absolute BEAST

I made the mistake of riding a friend's new XC (TBI) and that's never good. I may look at the leftovers next year. The TBIs list price is more then I'll pay for a dirtbike, more expensive than a 690R or a 450xc-f. KTM was always expensive but their recent 2 stroke pricing makes no sense to me.

I tried an Alta at the local off road park and that's the one place where I think electric dirt bikes make a ton of sense. No maintenance (except chain) and having your feet do nothing but holding you up was so nice. The power modes also tamed the bike quite a bit so I didn't feel like I was going to die. Throttle response was amazing as well.

I love the idea of an electric dirtbike. Being able to ride stealthily is huge! I could easy bomb trails at night in areas that would usually annoy the hell out of people or get the cops called on me.

The road I live on is 1 way in 1 way out. One big mtn climb up the top..goes from FSR to DBL to SNGL to the top of the 2nd tallest mtn east of the Mississippi.

I don’t even have to leave the mtn to get all my riding in. Which leaves me to getting an electric bike as distance won’t matter.

I also like the idea of being able to dial in the power..from Noob to Insane!
