Need some help from the community here!

I'm running Relations Race Wheels RR7-H with a -25 offset on my 2019 TRD PRO. I had a local off-road shop add ARP extended studs that they "machined". I have ET spline lug nuts that I ordered from RRW. I ran into an issue with the machined extended studs when i tried to remove my wheels and tires. I removed these with a breaker bar by hand and not an impact gun which the shop recommended. I originally had my local Toyota shop look at them to rotate the wheels and tires and they warned me that they looked like they were rough cut and they would crossthread when trying to put them on. The local off-road shop, of course, said that toyota was wrong and they didn't know what they were talking about and that I needed to remove them by hand and not with an impact. Well, I did that and they seem to be crossthreading when I tried to hand tighten them back on. There were definitely some metal shavings from the lug nut and/or stud. My question is this - should I purchase another set of extended studs and replace the old ones or put some oem studs back on and use the other set of ET lug nuts from RRW? I spoke with RRW about the issue and they assured me that with the ET thread lug nuts that there would be enough thread with the oem studs, but I'm just a little skeptical. I daily drive my truck and off-road it as well. It's been on some decent trails.

Thanks for any help as this has put me in a pickle 2 weeks before a big road trip.

    Pictures of these "machined" studs?

Odd that they would require modification as ARP offers a variety that'll fit your required length and pitch.

What exactly was done to the studs?

I'll have to add a pic later, but it looks like they weren't rounded off at the ends after cutting them.

I'm honestly not sure. They're a custom shop and the owner just told me they machined them and that toyota didn't know what they were doing, but the master mechanic at Toyota who's done most of the work on my truck says otherwise. So, I don't know. Sorry I can't give anymore details at them moment. Appreciate the reply!

Finally got around to them and snagged a few pics. Hit each stud with a thread chaser and each lug nut as well. They'll work for now, but I'm definitely going to replace the studs and lugs.

That’s pretty gross. Something is wrong and I can’t tell from the photos over the internet. Live and learn and fortunately you didn’t have them break while driving and lose a wheel or anything worse.

Maybe purchase the correct length ARP ones like mentioned above and don’t have a “custom shop” “machine” a new set for you.

If it were me, I'd do what the wheel manufacturer suggests. I'd also check the lug nuts against your spare tire to make sure they work. Please keep eye out for broken studs with your current setup :fingerscrossed:

There are some things you should just buy what fits. Anything that has to do with keeping your wheels on your truck should not be altered.

an angle grinder is a machine...I would keep the "custom shop" in my rear view mirror.

I appreciate feedback everyone. Going to order factory length ARP studs and replace everything. Lesson learned I guess.

WOW That is a real butcher job on the studs.
ARP studs are about as good as it gets, so just order the right length and thread to match the 60° conical nuts these wheels require.
Maybe buy a better quality nuts. That's a lot of debris from heat treated lug nuts.
You should be able to thread the nuts on the studs by hand, if not you may have the wrong thread or poor lug nuts.
I wouldn't use that shop again, they are truly clueless.
