Thank you sir! Made me think that I FORGOT to get some really cool pics this afternoon. Every control surface from our P39 is in the shop where I work on the motor. And they were all laid out together. Every bit of them is being completely rebuilt, by hand. The ribs with all new rivets in the frame, and what will be a combination of metal and doped fabric covering. It is real cool, I think. Here's a couple from a couple weeks ago.

I kinda figured the low altitude was for comfort. It was really cool seeing it cruising by. They have such a throaty sound. Can you imagine a sky full of them and the rumble it must have made? It was headed south, so maybe Las Vegas? Phoenix?

The Osprey was headed north/north west, so Dugway? The two helos, traveling together, were also headed north but more straight north, so probably Hill AFB. The helos made some noise too. If they were any lower the windows would be rattling.

Had a lot of other activity too. Small planes circling for quite a while, and other odd aircraft I couldn't identify.

If you ever need a poster girl original for the nose of one of them I'd like to submit something.

Well, the P-39 is already claimed, but I only know it will honor one of two pilots - with name and art.
But if you make a big enough donation, I bet you can have your way! :D:rofl::rofl::rofl:

Two of the senior member were joking about the early visits by our Wing at shows? Charge for rides? Appearance money? Accommodations? It was hilarious what they didn't know what they didn't know!

So the free artwork wouldn't be considered a donation? LOL... I doubt I will be having my art on a plane then. And d**n, it was on my bucket list...

Well, almost all artwork you see is recreated from original WWII, as close as possible. Names don't always go with the paint, though. There WAS a Yellow Rose, but ours is painted to match a crew that served over Italy, not in the Yellow Rose. And can you imagine, before being sold to and rescued by the CAF, Yellow Rose was a crop duster in Alabama!?

If I could have my choice of weapons for home defense, then this would be it. I'm hard of hearing and this would certainly wake me up in the middle of the night if it went off. A few of theses placed in entry points would take care of anyone breaking into my home. The downside would be the damage done to my home. :D

Yes, I'm in the process of watching both parts right now. It really was a shame the way we treated the American Indians. We could have learned so much from them, but the arrogant White Man already had the Know it all attitude, and take what we want. The way we continually broke the treaties was a black eye on American Government in place at that time. The Slaughter of the buffalo was a deliberate attempt to perform genocide on the different plains tribes dependent on the buffalo for their major food source.

We live in a MOA, so it's common. They come here from far and wide to train. Not uncommon to hear the sound barrier give it up. Mostly high-altitude work lately.

Yes , just a horrific story, well told by Ken Burns. Wife and I are going to see “Killers of the Flower Moon “, another part of Americas dark/ evil history.

I like the way you think. Now you see them, now you don't.

Good Morning. I like the pictures @Oldie2007 . Taking the Avalon over to the mechanic for an oil change, tire rotation and a general checkup. Heading to PA tomorrow. Tonight is a family dinner for my cousin's youngest daughter. She is home from her teaching job in Vietnam to visit her dad, my lunch partner. He is not doing well and is in rehab at the present time. Parkinsons is an evil affliction.

So, I started a self-taught course in handwriting yesterday. I am trying to improve my chicken scratching.
