Technic set took one for the team.

 

So I haven’t done a haul picture in a while. So this is what I got over the last month. Understand that I went crazy for double vip points. Also on the right hand side propping everything up is the UCS Venator in its shipping box.

 

and now i show my wife this and she says thank you for showing restraint

the other day she saw the CC statement for my kids and the Taekwondo stuff I ordered in for competition and she said can you just do drugs instead? likely be cheaper and at least then you have a problem i can explain.... girls not wrong!

Stuff for kids totally does not count against the Dad Is Still a Person with Passions and Needs account.

 

well i collect things like legos, guitars, car/trucks and guns... and i have been being really good trying to not buy cool dad things.

only down side is my 8yo told me last night she doesn't want to do TKD any more except she still wants to do sparring competition... after buying her a brand new uniform, brand new head gear and all the assorted pads and travel bag... like $400 in gear. while I stretch my sparring gear purchases out...

 

Understandable. I’ve got an 8 bit NES Nintendo collection that’s been a 13 year undertaking, a modded Tacoma that introduced me to this encouragement-of-money-pits website and a decent bourbon collection to boot.

The way I see it, none of us will be here in 100 years, tomorrow is not guaranteed, and you can’t take money with you. Fucking enjoy what you’ve worked so hard for.

 

glad i not the only one who enjoys things this way. i need to get to work on my 1967 F100 next, and get my nephews 95 Tacoma minitruck out of its spot!

 

Nope….well, you could but nothing worse than graverobbing Lego enthusiasts, no I meant Legos provide more entertainment than a couple hundred more dollars on your bank statement email.

You do Taekwondo?? My oldest and I just got our black belt in March.

we do! both my kids and I, got up to a Green as a kid, started over in March of this year. my instructor was super confused as to why I was able to show my kids their forms for a while. I'm back at a green again, about to test for the advanced stripe here at the end of the month, and then in November we have Competition. my 8yo is a purple and my 5yo is about to test for his red stripe belt in the JR program. likely in January will get his Black stripe belt where he will sit until he moves into the normal program, but he is one of the few kids left in the group that has any sparring experience there were a whole group of the JRs with gear. but all of them moved over, so we are waiting for a few more kids to move up to eligibility for sparring in the JR ranks but we have enjoyed things with TKD, and our instructor is super good with my kids and understands my parent style so they listen really well and he gets their sarcasm.

 

Nice!!!!!!!!!! I love doing it, and joined during Covid thanks to my kid because our Master started doing classes via Zoom. My kid was only in Kindergarten then, so I asked our Master if I could sit and do it with him at home so he wouldn't get confused, frustrated and lose interest. He said sure, and then I got "suckered" into joining. LOL

Love every minute of it, every second of every class, and it's been a great bonding experience between my kid and I.

 

That sounds a lot like my instructor. started my son first, correcting forms, and showing him how to preload weight for turns. and then was asked if I wanted to join as well.

 

We had a belt test today, to earn our 3rd stripe towards our 2nd degree black belt. Our school is part of the World Taekwondo Federation, and our certificate came in today that we are officially registered in their database as black belts. Our Master gave them to us after the test tonight.

 

Oh nice ours is WTF as well and congratulations! Our little school he keeps saying needs more adult black belts we have several Poom grades working towards things. But he is always checking on the 2 of us in our 40's jokingly referring to us as the "dad's"
