    Customer came to pick up parts I made, and he brought these to show me how he's getting them mounted

    Yup. Found a lot of rot. It had been under a lot of pressure from a tree (now removed) for a while. As you know having lived here on the westside, a lot of moisture gets trapped and this thing never gets a chance to really dry out.
