I've noticed the bug deflector was a popular factory option on the 01-04 Tacoma. That's because the 95-00 models had this problem
    upload_2023-10-19_17-42-56.png

I recall my 03 silver truck having a Toyota branded deflector right off the lot. My son had a 96 and that truck had no deflector... It also was infested with rock chips (not as bad as the one above).

I don't like the look of them (aside from the 95-00). I considered getting one, however I'm keeping an eye on things and touching up as needed. To me the 3rd gen front end is too bulky to begin with....adding another hideous plastic scab to the front may be beneficial, but it sure is ugly...so far my front end only has a handful of chips at 55k and none are too big.

Installed @Coupe 's narrow, adjustable TRD battery holder. This thing is legit - very well made. Hit him up as he is no longer making them and is selling off the last of his stock.

edit: these things are flawless. I was noticing in my pics the powdercoat looks flawed, this is my phones camera or image processing.

I have a couple of those Battery Tie downs. (The other is for when I buy an AGM battery)

The one you just installed is the one I started with...I may have tightened it too much. Just keep an eye on it.

I ended up putting back the OEM.

I'd say if Texas isn't hardcore about having your front plate, leave the damned thing off!
I carry my front plate with me in case someone says something about it, but I figure I'll just say that I haven't gotten the mount for my winch bumper, yet.

    Lookin' Good!

Those are big enough for a Tacoma...in my opinion.

I'd want to get the biggest tire I could get without having a lift done on my truck...and have a negative offset for some pokie.

Hmm. That stinks. At least it was just some plastic bits that could be easily replaced.

I'd put the license plate goofy "THIS IS NOT A STEP" thing back on. My son banged his front end up and he was going to put his front plate in the window.

    My response....why? Because your dumb?
What happens when you are involved in an accident and the plate becomes a projectile? What happens if you've had a couple beers and a police officer decides to pull you over for not having a front license plate, or your late for work and you get pulled over?

Are these the prices you want to pay to "look cool"?... He said good point dad.. I'll put it on... I said thank you son..

I hate having a front plate. But it's the law here...so that's that. I don't need to give any Law Dawgs any excuse to bust my balls...they got better things to do anyway.

Almost like getting yourself a new truck with that done, I bet. Which settings did you go with?

    I'm salivating!

You gotta stop showing off, man! lol

    Thanks for the photo.

It's a long shot but I would consider my local dealership doing the TRD Lift install.

If I were to do it over again I would just do the CMC/fender clearencing upgrade to an adjustable coil over give yourself an inch up front and stuff I'm a 285 on a 0 offset wheel. Keep the stock uca maybe a small block/add a leaf in the back to keep the factory rake and it would be the ideal set up in my mind.
