there should be no training for OC ever!!!!!!!!!!.....how can you sit here and say that a woman who is being stalked needs to go sit in a class, take a test, pay a fee, wait on a govt agency to issue a permission slip then can carry...the state of Florida has turned a right into a privilege...

in GA i walked in paid my monies got fingerprinted and got a permit 2 weeks later...i got my Florida CCW by using my GA hunters ed certificate...i got my PA LTCF by paying 26$ cash and a copy of my Drivers license

Because this is America, not Somalia or some other third world nation. We are the home of the free and to me that means I do not want to see or have to worry about guns unless I am putting one in my holster or see it on the side of a LEO. There is not a damn thing wrong with open carry out in the sticks but here in the burbs and the city we do not see the need. Besides it's not that hard to get your gun out from under your shirt.

I'm solidly in favor of allowing open carry. However personally I wouldn't choose to do so, at least not into general public areas, where I'm not familiar with the majority of people around.

I don't look like a tough guy by any means, so I figure OC for me runs too much risk of lighting some mental jackwad's fuse, where he falsely assumes I am pretending to be Wyatt Earp so he decides to follow me to the car and start something to prove otherwise.

Or even more likely, some gang banger, who would otherwise would never notice me, sees the gun and decides I ain't so tough looking and he decides to try and take it from me. In either case it turns a non-incident into a life or death encounter for me with my chances being 50-50 or less, since they are probably going to come prepared also.

So it might be lessening the risk of some random robbery but greatly elevating the risk of being otherwise accosted.

it's not about the need to carry openly. it's about the constitutional right to do so. What you may or may not see as a necessity others may.

I have my convictions and there are others that think otherwise. So I am stating this in a non confrontational way - why should everyone be allowed to open carry?

where and how did government get the privilege to take away someones rights that are inherent in their humanity and tell them they cant?? the only point of government is to protect the rights of the individual. the collective has no rights.... govt gets its power from us and it is transferred to govt...we the people have Rights....

unalienable refers to that which cannot be given away or taken away.

We the people have the right to live in a civilized world free from vigilantes and others who want to make a statement or silent protest with their rights. The last time our gun rights were infringed on Clinton was in office. This deal with open carry in Florida is a open debate for bringing guns into our lifes in a vulgar way. A way along the lined of some rednek we aint gona haves this in arr town kind of longo.

Tear up that NRA membership because the NRA is there to support responsible gun owners.

well if you researched the Right...you would find out Open Carry is the Right and the courts consider concealed carry something states can ban....an honest man carries his weapons openly whereas the criminal hides them to hide his shady intentions....

this case was cited as the perfect opinion of what the second amendment means by the Supreme Court in DC v. Heller

How? Did they not give you a student loan? Land and a mule or something? Alright I am getting a little insulting with the above statement. But what is the big deal with "sporting" your gun? And why should we?

no one says you have to carry openly...its a personal choice i live in south GA where it gets to be 100 degrees and 100% humidity its way more comfy not to have the gun under your clothes stuffed in your pants etc....

and its a civil right that SHALL not be infringed....by prohibiting the carry of a pistol openly and charging a fee to do so is unconstitutional. GA is a non traditional Open Carry state you have to be licensed in all be a few circumstances...Gun Control is nothing but Jim Crow laws left over from after the civil war and i dont like Mr. Crow.. GA just repealed its 140 year old racist "public gathering clause" this year and also our last governor was the first republican governor since the civil war....

What are you trying to achieve? He isn't giving you shit for not carrying a weapon. People do what they want based on their experiences or beliefs; nothing you can do to change that.
