how do i get around this?

ok so i took my 2011 tacoma in for an oil change and mentioned the blower motor issue. They fixed it no problem. I then mentioned the tsb on the leaf spring. They pulled the computer up and entered my VIN. It came up with nothing. I looked at the tsb on here and my VIN code is included however it is for a 2010 not a 2011, mine most certainly has a 3 leaf rear. They said they wouldn't do it bc toyota wouldnt pay unless the tsb was brought up by the VIN

Need the truck to be a truck. Previously hAd a heavily modified pathfinder. With 7 in lift and rancho/ sway a away suspension I never had to worry. Now I bought the truck to use. I got a good deal on it. I also got a good interest rate. I like the truck but if it isn't going to haul firewood then we have issues

Why won't it haul firewood?Have you hauled anything?

 

Just had my leaf spring tsb done today. 2011 DC MT My dealership was great about it and processed the tsb based solely upon my complaints of bottoming. Hang in there and make sure toyota fixes this for you. Just in the 25 miles I drove home this afternoon I am so much happier with the increased firmness in the feel of the ride. Also, I feel a lot better knowing I have a truck which is able to SAFELY haul moderately heavy loads 15-20 times a year.

You may have luck with the safety angle of explaining this to the toy techs. With a load in your bed, I am sure your truck noses up significantly like mine did. This leads to less contact and pressure between the front wheels and the road. I felt this lack of grip when loaded in my truck on anything less than dry pavement.

Research the tsb a bit more as well. It is listed for 09-10, but then there is a bit somewhere in there about how 2011's don't get shocks replaced, just leafs. If you can find this mention, it should make the point that 2011 apply.

I was one of the lucky ones who got this upgrade (yeh, I said it! adding a leaf is an upgrade in a truck and it is completely absurd that toyota scaled back the strength of the suspension in the same redesign that made the truck a bit bigger and heavier) with no real hassle. If not for TW, I most likely would not have known about this downgraded feature of the truck. I probably would have dealt with the somewhat squishy unloaded ride and the terrible performance hauling loads. I would have fondly remembered my old '99 tacoma and wished my new one felt as solid.
