    Congrats on the baby!!
I would take momma to test drive one, the "double cabs" aren't a family-friendly option in my opinion. I know people do it, but I wouldn't want to. My niece loves my truck, when her younger brothers were small, the car seat wouldn't fit well and of course mom and dad said right away "F no, take our van"!. Now she's a beautiful young 16 years old, and is too big to fit back there! The back seats are to haul dogs, gear, or a drunk buddy that doesn't have legs.

you might consider keeping the ol truck as a toy, and get a DD.

    Family first!

For real? The full four door Tacoma is that tight back there?

I really think it depends on the front seat position(s). If they are pushed all the way back: it's tight. If they are adjusted 3/4 of the way back, there is enough room for just about anyone. I'm about 6' tall and don't need the seat pushed all the back. It's usually about 2/3rds back and anyone can sit in the back seat without issue.

That said: while a car seat(s) will fit fine back there regardless of the front seat positions, I don't think a double-cab would make a good family-carrier. YMMV

This would just be my vehicle. The wife has a 2023 Mazda CX-50. Which will be the main family vehicle. We need something that can plow, do dump runs, pick up furniture, etc. But also fit a car seat just in case.

As a secondary vehicle to the Mazda, "You'll be fine" with a double cab of any trim. My 1st choice was a LB, but after months of looking for one that had a good frame, less than 150,000 miles and an interior that wasn't a mess, I had to go with one with a 5' bed. In the two and a half years I have owned it: I've never needed the extra foot. Still wish I had it though for the longer wheelbase that comes with/on the 6' bed double cab. (Better ride and for towing)

That' good to hear for sure. I want a 6ft, but not against getting a 5ft bed. I'm also dabbling at the idea of buying an older used 4runner or GX460. Both fit the bill of what i need, just with slightly less utility.

I love my Tacoma, but don't have kids. I would defiantly test drive one and keep the other options open.
If you go with the 4R or GX, you could just get a utility trailer.

I see lots of folks fussing about the rear seat room in a Double Cab model, and quite honestly, I don't understand the complaints. My kids are now fully grown and I have schlepped around four adult passengers on any number of occasions, including a trip from New England to the DC area and back, and all seemed pretty happy with the accommodations in the rear seat.

I had rough time finding a ‘23 OR. Most of the sea coast and NH dealers just didn’t have inventory, or what they had was already sold. Some had ridiculous add-ons. Dealers get various configs, so find a configuration you like and keep checking that dealer.

I ended up finding one with Acton, MA that just came off the truck and managed to get book value for my trade. It had floor mats and LED lights with no other fluff. Paid MSRP in August, so I bet they can go a little lower now. They delivered to NH, so I could avoid the taxes too. My 2010 was purchased there as well.

Depends on the people up front. I'm 5-7 leaving plenty of room in the back.

So I just put a down payment on my new 3rd gen. Celestial silver TRD Off-road base with some mild add-ons. $39k, $41k otd. Somehow, I managed to get two dealerships into a bidding war for me by accident. And got $3250 off of MSRP. The truck will be delivered 3-6 weeks from now. Beyond excited. Now, I just need to get my truck ready to sell.

Gotta remember if a trade, or even someone looking for a used truck, all those mods are worth nothing extra...it's basically a 200k mile 2002 tacoma of that model. You'll need to find that special buyer willing to pay for all that extra stuff if asking more.

Yeah, I definitely understand that aftermarket stuff isn't an added value. But the maintenance stuff, and newish frame, along with plow in my area is a pretty big deal. Or at least it would be to me if I was buying it again. Hopefully the right buyer comes along after I list it and enjoys the things that I do.

Unfortunately having a plow isn't the greatest idea when selling one of these trucks. I use to have an old jeep at one time with one, and couldn't sell it once a potential buyer saw the plow hitch....they just figure the vehicles had a hard life.

You've got a good point there. But, the truck has only been plowed with three times. I guess I could always sell it separately
