Hey guys, got a 2020 trd sport 4X4. Went to change my oil yesterday as my dealer freebies are out and I noticed some oil by my pan and I can’t tell if it’s coming from maybe the rear main and leaking down or if it’s the oil pan gasket. Any of yall have any oil leak issues? If so where from?

Maybe the last free oil change the dealer didn’t tighten the drain plug enough or the drain plug gasket is damaged? Clean it off with brake clean and then monitor it

No when I removed the plug it didn’t feel over tight, the drain hole also looked fine, not caved in. I cleaned it after the change. They did however over do my filter because the drain plug on the filter won’t come out of the housing. Had to take it off in one piece.

Could it have leaked from there and dripped down to where you noticed the excess? Or maybe they spilled some? 2020 is far past the days of the oil leaks on these trucks, they should all be fixed.

Clean it up real good and then drive it. If it returns then you start hunting for the source. If it doesn't return then do the happy dance.

I don’t think a spill could get to this location but I could be wrong. The filter housing was completely dry. It’s just the spot in the pic

Do you mean they, and you, just reused the washer that was already there or that there is no sealing washer on the plug or pan at all? Because without one that could be the source of the leak.

Both. When I changed the oil there wasn’t one so I assumed it didn’t need one. There is a grove on the pan though that the head of the bolt sits in so I figured that’d be enough.

mine has residue on it after 5-10k i wiped it off and it hasnt returned. this seems to be common for them to weep a little at the beginning and then seal.

You might want to have the dealer look at it before you hit 60K miles.

My only concern trying to use the warranty is the fact that this isn’t the first little issue I’ve had taking it in. It’s never quality work and there’s always something messed up. Have a spare bolt that was left in my engine bay. Don’t know where it goes. Had a fluid flush done and they left brake fluid everywhere, had to clean it before it started rusting. Covers not being put back. Not able to find issues in pointing out like overheating. All that jazz
