I wouldn't be happy either. Everyone told them to chase the money, even the Donald back in 2022. LIV guys laughing from the bank now getting a huge pay day and now right back to playing keeping all that money lol.

Exactly. PGA tour players that were offered LIV contracts are spinning right now. Kind of a dick move from the PGA considering all the shit they were spewing a year ago. I'm ambivalent to the whole thing, but seems like a weird situation for the PGA players.

I'm seriously just blow away hearing that the PGA joined LIV...still trying to wrap my brain around it.

I wonder if the players will even tee it up in Canada today.

I haven't heard anything about it at all...yet.

I don't know if they "have to" regarding contracts or legal action against them???

    I hit a birdie today!

    I shot a 104, but who cares, I hit a birdie!

par 4, 350 yd, drove it 305yd, pitched it luckily onto the front edge of the green, then putted her in from about 12ft.

man it felt awesome! My pitching wedge is shit city or I’d have more chances at pars…

The RBC Canadian Open isn't the strongest field so a lot of the big names don't play - Rory is in the mix though.

Some players get bonuses for playing tournaments they normally don't play. For example, Rory forfeited a few mil when he opted out of the RBC Heritage.

    Congratulations!
Hit the fairway, hit the green, that’s what it’s all about. Do it with driver & fairway wood and you’re putting for eagle. When your at the range imagine different shots at the various flags are some of the holes you play. I finish a bucket doing that but start out hitting several balls each beginning with the short irons and working my way through the bag. Don’t skip the practice green for putting and chip & runs or the practice bunker if available. Every club in range has a shot at the hole if you can throw a dart with it.

I quit watching pro golf years ago. Groomed everything, perfect sand and still you only see the guys that top the leader board AFTER the cut. It leads to totally unrealistic expectations with lousy players emulating 5-10 minute preshot routines and still laying sod over the ball or sculling it OB.

I still watch the women. They hit driver then long iron or hybrid to green. More realistic to me. Some of them crank it out there a long ways though. Most of mine is driver then wedge to green. Not always in fairway or hit the green. Just love the game!!

One of the most rewarding shots is sticking a long iron after watching it hang over the flag all the way in. Hard to beat big air on a drive though, especially when you can shape it to fit. I’m past that age but not quite done trying.

I really enjoy watching pro golf, but I do think that is partially because I’m so new to the game. I simply don’t have the training or play time to expect any sort of skill to show, so I watch pro golf with a simple appreciation of how good they are. Knowing I can’t in any way emulate what they do. Similar to watching any pro sport really.

I’ve played with a couple of buddies who have said they’re jealous of the fun I can have on the course sometimes, and I tell them I just don’t take it serious. I paid to play, I didn’t get paid to play, so I do my best but I’m only there to have fun and see if I can do better. 19 shots out of 20 are garbage, but man that 1 shot is such an intoxicating feeling it keeps me coming back haha

It’s a game and that’s how I look at it. I really enjoy it. Play 2-3 times a week. I hit some good shots, bad and really bad shots. I don’t dwell on the bad ones like a lot guys do. Just try to hit a good one next

Nice that I found this thread…

I have been playing golf since I was 6. I have been as low as a 7 handicap. I don’t play enough anymore to get that low but I still play into a 11 or 12 during the summer.

Golf in western Oregon gets real mushy from late October to April or may. Im 41 year old and can still hang with the younger folks off the tee box with my longest drive this year being 327yrds. Also best round of the year this year so far was a 79 in early august.

    Anyways that’s my story

Hold on to that mind set. The problem with media coverage is that it creates a false sense of normal. Those that miss the cut or make it but don’t reach the leaderboard are glossed over so we don’t see the majority of the 1%ers still yacking it up albeit less frequently than us mere mortals. It only gets aired when it’s some monumental choke like Greg Norman’s rather than the everyday occurrence it really is among the field. The coverage is a disservice since it fails to show just how difficult the game is to play at a consistently high level. Be proud of every good shot but don’t dwell on the bad ones because even the pros still hit both.

Something else about my story is I have a 18ish yard chipping green in my back yard that my dad who lives with me takes care of. We are trying to make it puttable without spending much money on it.

Not the best picture but it’s all I got currently on my phone.
