I had the same experience, I was at or below 4/32 on all 4 at 30k. Other than that, I did like them.

Michelin Defender all the way. Stock size, smooth, quiet, and reliable. No need to second guess yourself with Michelin. Grandpa tires are highly underrated! Plus they’re about to run out of them with the next gen coming out next year at a higher price than the current $255 per tire from Discount.

I love mine. Personally, I went with the 6 ply, simply because, to be honest, its my DD, and I have absolutely no need for a 10 ply tire, where I live, nor with what I take my truck on. Easy to mid grade trails here in New England, are all I really do, and the 6 ply is more than adequate for that.
Having gone through 2 winters, and a bunch of mud this year, the tire has performed great.

I’m about to buy new 17 inch AT tires as well. I’m leaning more towards a 6 ply and buying hazard warranties. Arizona trails are rough and rocky.

I have an appointment to get a set of these put on my truck this sat.. I hope they are quieter than the Toyo AT3s! I loved the ride and the feel of the AT3s, but were just noisy.

Wait, people buy tires at the dealership? Hmm... This isn't Costco. I buy my trucks at Toyota and my tires @Discount Tire And then my hotdogs at Costco.

Been running them 2 years now on my 95. Only issue is flat spots after parked for a few days but the wopa goes away after about 20 miles. They also dig into sugar sand pretty quick in 2wd so go to 4 before needed. They will dry rot before I need to replace

Im a little late to the conversation, but I replaced the stock tires on my 2023 Trail Edition with 265/70/17 Falken Wildpeaks......and they are o.k. The main complaint I have is even that small of a change makes my truck work just a little harder, even with the OTT, thus my mpgs went down a little (I live at 7200 ft, which does not help). I use the "Sport" shifter alot now. If I had to do over again, I would have gone with the Discoverer AT3s.

Had the wildpeak at3w in 265/70r16. Loved them. Moved from that to bf goodrich km3s e rated in 255/85r16. Obviously way different than the wildpeaks, but those km3s sucked; loud, wore irregularly, and had shit traction in the snow.

Back in wildpeaks, this time with e rated 285/75r16. Been running them since June and couldn’t be happier. Not as cheap as they were in 2017, but well worth it.

Are those e-rated? I'm not seeing an SL tire at the size for the Wildpeaks - at least at discount tire. If so, I'd say that is probably the main issue. E-rated tires are not a good choice for a Tacoma. Even a Tundra comes stock with SL tires (most trims and XL in a few but not E). E-rated would make sense for people hauling a 5th wheel. Or maybe if you are just building an off-road focused ride and just what a tough tire, but even then e-rated may not perform any better other than taking more of a beating. It would be interesting to see a real world comparison.

At the same size and load rating those two tires are very similar. I doubt you would see much difference in mileage. I recently wore out my first set of Wildpeaks and was considering the Discoverer thinking it would be good to try something else. From what I could find out, the Discoverer might be slightly better on road, but the Wildpeaks have the edge in wet, snow and off road. Also considered most of the other commonly promoted tires for the Tacoma and in the end I couldn't think of a good reason not to get the Wildpeaks again.

I went from 265/70/16 to 265/75/16 and yes the slightly larger tire weighs more and is slightly harder to rotate so I did lose about 1 ish mpg per tank accounting for the slightly larger size (every 100 miles on the odometer is like 103 actual miles). I have KDMax tune and to be honest the driveabilty is not much different. I do notice a slight improvement in power when I put my Nokian winter tires back on in stock size.

FWIW for those of you considering the AT3W, The AT4W is supposed to be released relatively soon.

The AT3W is at the top of my list but I’m waiting to see what the next iteration is like.

Got my tires on today and requested road force balance as well as lining up the red dot with the valve stem. 1 tire required 7ozs of weight to balance! So far, feels pretty smooth, but I hope that is not the normal. The other tires required half as many weights.

I just bought my second set, after wearing out my first set after 60,000 miles. They lasted awhile and did great in basically all situations. So I’d highly recommend them.

I have 35K on Falken AT3W SL 265/70r16's on my 2000 Taco and they have been excellent. I went with Toyo AT3 SL on my '23 Taco and although I like them too, I think they look a little anemic due to the wimpy sidewall compared to the Falkens. I regret not putting Wildpeaks on my '23... and still consider taking the loss and trading the Toyo's in on the Falkens.

I have about 40K on mine. I rotate every 5K and haven't noticed any increase in noise yet. :notsure:
