If you can locate a shop that deals with SRS systems for a replacement. I wouldn't trust a junkyard part for SRS items.

Copy, I'll start there and see if that fixes it. Will post here once I know.

Thanks again for all the help!

Now to put all this crap back together...

Ahhh so I bet this is why I'm reading short right now, the big ECU side connector is shorted by design. But when all hooked up my theory is that broken tab is keeping the tensioner connector shorted.

Close but not entirely correct. One must insert a paper to prevent accidental firing of squid while using DMM or other diagnostic equipment. It's removed after.
The broken tab on the connector, I haven't located the correct info on it, but I know it's very important to prevent :bananadead::nuclear:

Haven't made it to a u-pull yet for a new connector but after some more reading around online I feel more confident that this is indeed my issue. I found this post on a bimmer forum of someone that dug into the connector patent and got more details on how it works. Granted there's an assumption here that bimmer=taco, but I think with this particular piece I'd say that's a safe crossover of the technology.

the red line is roughly where my connector tab is broken.

Looks promising, since Toyota doesn't manufacture there "own" SRS.

Reviving this discussion to close it out! I finally made it down to the junkyard yesterday to get a few SRS connectors. They didn't have any Tacos but I figured this part would be common between Toyota vehicles, which it is for the most part! So I ended up pulling 3 just to be safe and avoid having to come back down, one from a Camry, a 4Runner, and a Prius, all around the same MY as my truck, +/-5 years. All 3 were identical.

Looking closer at the connector, no splicing or any sketchy stuff was required, this little black plastic piece that clears the shorting bar is removable with care so I just swapped a not broken one with my broken one and BOOM, light gone. The good part is on the right in the image below, bad on the left. What a relief to finally get that out of the way, I sat on this one way longer than I should have.
