Hi, first post here. I bought my 2000 Tacoma 2.7 5 speed 4wd about a month ago. It had a rebuilt motor with about 1k miles on it.

I did exhaust and added a new o2 sensor that had been cut and then got a p0401 for Egr. Fixed that but noticed the previous owner did not hook up the hoses in the right spot. Which kind of leads into my next question about the power steering pump air control valve hoses.

From what I gather from the few google images I could find, he did not hook up the power steering properly to the throttle body and intake manifold. They are just capped off at the valve. I have a high idle and the power steering pump which is new already sounds like it’s shot but so far works fine. I’m just looking for some confirmation on my thoughts as well as where that hose going to the manifold currently should be if I run the power steering hoses to it. Thank you.

I think you’ll have to find diagrams for an earlier year. My 2000 is electrically actuated:

I am not using a filter. As I stated in the original post the engine had 1k miles on it when I bought it about a month ago. The guy I bought it from rebuilt it after it was hydrolocked so whatever he did to clean it he did a good job. Maybe a bead blast and then painted it as there is a little over spray here and there.

thank you, that helps a lot as I had no idea since the only pictures I can find online were going to a black box which is no longer there since it has the k&n intake.

interesting, I was reading that the 1999.5 to 2000 have the style I have. If I remember correctly my door sticker said 1999 but is titled as 2000 so that would make sense

As far as model year....they start manufacture of next years model in september/october every year...

so your vin is only sure way to search and order your parts.....

especially model change years........97/98......2000/01.....then the $1000 electronic carb bastards 03/04....

    each has pluses and minuses.....

And none of these considers 5lug suspensions vs 6lug.....which are completely different....

yeah I have some experience in these split years I’ve had 3 vehicles and a Harley that were split years and took a little research before I figured out my issues. I really appreciate the feedback and information. Thank you.
