Rear slide window leak

Hello,

I washed my truck the other day and the noticed that there was some water behind the back seat coming from the rear slide window. I hosed off the back window on the shower setting from the hose. Didnt check it in rain yet. Is this normal?

 

Not for me. Check the gasket for damage?

 

I've read on here that the third brake light can leak.

 

Hmmm....never thought about that? Might wanna look into this.

 

The gasket is perfect. The truck has 1400 miles on it.

 

Friend of mine with a 2009 had water issues when it rained very heavy. Told him to take a hose and spray the back window and look inside after and walla.......water was getting in........brought it to the dealer and had the rear window replaced and resealed.

 

Did you check it? Only 1400 miles makes it more likely to be a manufacturing defect...

 

I'd be driving straight to the dealership and make them fix it.

Had the same problem with my 2011. Drove it off the lot, second day it was home decided to take it to the car wash after it rained, found the middle rear window was leaking water rather badly. Brought it back to the dealership to get it replaced, on the way there the brakes seized on the drivers side, upon inspection the dealer found that the e-brake assembly was missing a bolt which fell out and gouged the drum/shoes as well. They fixed that and the leaking window at the dealership, found out that they had replaced the entire rear window since they can't just change out the middle window. I got them to test their replacement, and their head detailer found that the catch on the middle rear window was leaking water this time. After speaking to upper management at the dealership and Toyota Canada I've just been getting the run around, they're finally looking at giving me a solid rear window after I had suggested that, however from the sounds of it they want to charge me for it, definitely not going to happen. I think there's a engineering defect in the 2011's in that rear window, i dont know if the design changed from 2010-2011. Youre definitely not alone though.

 

I found the source of my rear slider window leak. It was latched when it leaked but then I found out you have to move it about 1 or 2 mm after latching before it would stop leaking.

 

Had same issue and dealership is putting new sliding window in. They are replacing the entire back window. From what I was told this is a fairly normal problem. I have 11000 miles on my 2010

 

I found my 2011 Tacoma's rear window was leaking after washing it. It had only a few miles on it. I took it back to the dealer and they replaced the whole window assembly. I checked it after getting it back and found it was still leaking. Took it back and they verified it was leaking. they checked another new truck on the lot with same results. So I am waiting to hear from Toyota Canada on this. Seems to be a design problem. Perhaps we should look at launching a class action law suite over this.
